Hey folks I’m looking for the experts on here to provide some insight as to what could be the reason for my car to be a little slower to pick up speed and feeling like it needs more gas than usual to keep it going. I’ve been to the dealership a few times but every time they fix one issue a new one shows up.
Here is what I recently got done on my car:
1. The Front Suspension spring broke about a month ago (didn’t even go over a bump or anything, just turning in a parking lot and heard a loud pop sound)so I had both front struts replaced. The dealership said it’s a newer more improved version of suspension…but i find it very stiff and noisy, even over normal road imperfections. Doesn’t seem like a very refined quality.
2- the car was leaning to the left side after the replacement, so I had them re do the alignment and got it fixed. No issues for a few weeks apart from the fact that the new struts didn’t feel like I was driving a premium vehicle. Felt very rental car like.
3 - then I had my regular oil change and they did a tire rotation on it. After the rotation, the car pulls to the right.
4- I had them re do the alignment again and it was still pulling to the right but less.
5- now however, at higher speeds I feel a vibration through the steering wheel as well as the gas pedal. Strange but somehow it’s not very consistent, sometimes it’s there and sometimes it feels fine.
6 - then second issue is the car feels more slower to pick up speed, like I need to give it more gas than before. This is consistent and there now ever since the last visit to the dealership.
7- I should add I got the spark plugs replaced about 2 months ago. After that visit, the car was running fine, picking speed as expected and fuel consumption was good too. So that’s why I don’t think the slower speed pick up is related to anything other than what the dealership touched during my last few visits.
I’m wondering if the alignment is causing the slower speed pick, my limited understanding says alignment could impact but the impact would be negligible in daily driving. I’m wondering if it could be the brakes…but again, I never had an issue with the brakes during these visits to the dealership so could it be a new issue now.
I put up the current alignment results if anyone would like to break it down for me.
