Starting Issues
Starting Issues
2016 Maxima SV
This issue only happens the first time starting it during the day. Once the vehicle has started, it doesn’t have the issue anymore that day. The issue that the vehicle has is it will not start the “normal” way. You get it and push the brake pedal and then the start button and nothing happens. The starter does not activate and it does not turn the engine over. If you then use the remote start, it will start every time. We did notice that the brake lights do not come on when this issue arises. We did replace the brake light switch with a genuine Nissan part. It did not fix the issue. Also when it happened the first time, we put a new Optima battery in it, which didn’t fix the issue either. When you go to start the vehicle the “normal” way, there are instructional lights on the dash that give instructions on starting procedure. It says “push brake pedal” and “push start button.” When it is not having the issue, the “push brake pedal” light will go away when you push the brake pedal. But when it has the issue of not starting, the “push brake pedal” stays on when you push the pedal. Anyone have any insights?
