free alignment ftw

I posted a thread about two weeks ago detailing how my car had severe toe out after installing Ksports on my car. Took it to get aligned today and actually got the hookup - guy did it for free for me cuz it turns out I just did his buddies transmission down at the shop. Anyways, indeed the toe was completely jacked up, grand total of 3.1 degrees toe out. Got it put back to spec, no more tire scrubbing yay. I only drove about 20 miles in the car with the toe as jacked as it was after the install, and there was already SIGNIFICANT scrubbing evident, rubber was balled up and gathered on the sides of the tread blocks, etc... after only 20 miles! It looked like my tires tended to after a full day of lapping.

Are the knuckle attachment holes drilled to provide more tire clearance (and slightly less negative/more positive camber) for any given strut top attachment lateral location?

I got a free alignment yesterday. Reason being is I ordered some rims from this shop over a month ago and they still haven't arrived. He told me that he'll compensate me with a free alignment. Hopefully my rims arrive this week so that I can feel the true handling of my car.

Yes the top knuckle attachment bolt is an elongated hole, and your camber can be adjusted independently by just adjusting the bolt/knuckle position inside that hole, regardless of what I set the strut mount camber plates to.
