Eibach spring questions

Hi guys,

I recently bought my I30t and love it. I had no plans for any mods to the car at all and just wanted to leave it as is after I get tints.

Anyways......someone locally is selling the Eibach pro kit springs for 150.

I hate my wheel gap.......so is this price good? They are used for about a 1000 miles.

I researched and found that they handle great but provide a harsh ride. How harsh?

I am planning to put these on the stock struts. Good or bad idea?

Please don't get me wrong, I did search and couldn't find much info besides the fact that they are harsh riding springs. I didn't find any info about them while being paired with stock struts.

I just thought that this price is good and wanted some more info.

Thanks a lot for all your help in advance

they are kinda harsh especially if u still want factory ride....stock struts not a good idea...get some Koni Yellows.....if u want a decent ride still and a lil bit of drop go with H&Rs.....it still wont be like factory but it wont be as harsh as the Eibachs

Eibachs aren't nearly as "harsh" as people act like they are. Mine are no harsher than my stock SE springs, IMO...but provide much better handling. I'm not sure if the 5th gen and 4th gen Eibachs are the same though

I have eibachs and tokico blues and think its not to rough , but not to soft. Perfect for everyday driving and a occasional spirited drive. This is just my opinion...

Get Eibachs, they are stiff but you won't bottom out. Softer lowering springs cause you to bottom out all the time, which is much harsher. You will need to get Koni or Tokico Illumina struts as well. Then find a shop to install subframe connectors (SFCs). Once you add stiffer springs, the flexy 4th gen chassis really becomes apparent. For under $400 you can dramatically increase chassis stiffness on a 4th gen with SFCs.

Taken from the spring rate sticky....
4th gen Eibach (progressive)
Front: 166-257 lbs/in
Rear: 166-343 lbs/in

5th gen Eibach Pro-Kit
Front: 139-188 lbs/in
Rear: 194-295-346 lbs/in

Were both rates taken from the same source? If so, does anyone have an idea why the rates are so different between 4th and 5th gen? Just out of curiosity, what are the physical differences between the 4th and 5th gen springs?

I'm looking into getting Eibachs to replace my H&Rs, but can't decide if it's right for me. I get different reviews from 4th and 5th gen people. Coming from my H&R/AGX combo, I figure if I pair them with cut Konis my ride won't be too bad. I already have Ben's mounts on the rear and SFCs.

its all based on how Eibach designed them and the amount of drop they have...differnt cars require different rates

The stock struts will blow in a matter of months if not weeks or days.

Yes, that's a great price.

Depends on your wheels and tires, what dampers you have, whether you have any chassis stiffening mods, and what your preferences are like.

If you have lightweight 16" rims with nice Bridgestones or Michelins, Koni Yellows, lots of chassis bracing, and don't mind feeling an occasional jolt from a big bump, Eibachs will be great. If you have big heavy 19" rims with cheap tires, cheap struts, and no chassis bracing, prepare to lose your fillings....

If you like the sensation of sticking your head in a paint shaker, it's a great idea. Otherwise.... no.

It may not seem so bad for the first few days after you do it, but stock dampers will wear out and blow out FAST with those springs. Once they do, you will hate your life.

Huh? How did you miss all the threads about how they're definitely the best springs available for the Maxima?

I'll tell you why. Anyone who does either is flamed into oblivion or just loses so many brain cells from the bouncy ride that they no longer have the intelligence to log back in and post.

Here's what the 4th gen Eibachs look like; I'm sure the 5th gen version looks very similar:

The million dollar question still remains Preet....are you going to buy them? If not, pass on the info because I'm sure one of us will grab them up if you don't (including me).

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info. I am going to wait and get a good strut and spring combo instead of skipping on struts and only getting springs. This deal was on CL and might still be available. Good luck to whoever buys em!!! Price is now only 80!!
