Cross Floor Sway Bar

Just ran across this design on ebay. Has anybody seen before? Any comments good or bad?

omg brian....you are going to lose all the suspension respect you have around here

it does nothing. Think about it...it essentially mounts to the side sills below the inside of the door....I really don't see how that can really help anything. After all, the two lower sills in that position don't really twist during cornering, at least not in a way that a single lateral bar would help. The only effective way of doing it is with at least a 4-point crossbrace (i.e. the way a stage 2 SFC does it).

btw, I have heard of people using these on Hondas, and almost all of them admit that they do squat.....but look nice.

Yeah, BUT... "This product is used by all professional drift racers. "
Im sure it would help keep the chasis straighter when you smash into curbs sideways and also "The overall suspension and handling will increase by 15%. "

I say try it let us know how it works out

Yeah, it provides extra stiffness since the full roll cages don't really do the trick

anything that improves suspension and handling by 15% is good by me. It can also stiffen the center of gravity.

Don't know if it would do any good on our Maxima's, but it works wonders on MKIV Supra's.

You know how it does that? It increases exhaust by 15%.

1. It's not a sway bar. It's structural reinforcement.

2. Whether or not it does anything depends GREATLY on the car, so you can't tell how it will work on our cars by how it works on other cars.

That goes double for Hondas -- most of the popular ones don't even get much out of full underbody X-bracing, let alone this kind of thing. Torsional stiffness in that part of the frame is not a big issue on those cars. Needless to say, you can't really compare a car like that to a 4th gen Maxima in terms of chassis flex...

Dood. We already know it stiffens the center of gravity.

the discussion is not that stiffer frame/subframes result in better handling. That is a fact. The argument is that the cross-floor POS brace will achieve that end to any noticeable degree (which it will not, in my opinion).

My center of gravity is getting stiffer just reading this thread...and I think I'm starting to feel a locking motion in my chassis.

if you want to stiffen your chassis check out the org there is a new sub frame chassis stiffener in the group sales section or go to this site:http://www.mattblehm.com/suspension.htm#.
but clearly what you are looking at is not a anti sway bar.
i have the stillen anti sway bar and i have no complaints, you can also adjust the stillen asb to your lik ing.

Matt, when are you going to make the cross-floor brace for us??? I think it'll be MUCH more effective than SFCs without the ground clearance loss.
