Front driver side wheel clicking

I need help please!

I have brembo big brakes up front and raxle shafts.
My car just started a clicking noise when wheels are turned to the right. This is the only time they click, not going straight and not turning left, what is going on? Brakes or axle ?
I hate this kind of BS with these type of noises.

Wheel bearing..... I had a similar problem with my Maxima for over a year, I repleaced my passenger side axle because my noise was coming from the passenger side. Ended up being a wheel bearing.

Man...three posts, three different responses. Normally CV joints click when your rolling and turning (slow speed) wheel bearings hum at higher speed (especially when turning which loads the bad wheel bearing). Clicking coming from the upper strut area when parked.......strut mount bearing. Just replaced both....twice.

do the wheel bearing test, if there's any play then its a bad wheel bearing. If there's no play, then your raxle is shot.

Most likely a bad CV joint. Sometimes they are ok going straight, and clunk when turning. Raxles should replace it.
Bearings often make noise even going straight.

do you have stock brakes and wheels?

if so, check the brake pad spring clip. If you forgot to tuck it under, it might be touching the inside of your wheel.

You should really post in your own gen's forum, because I could say raxles.com, but I really have no idea if Marty is making 6th gen axles yet.

if you read the post before I edited it, look, I apologize, it was unnecesarry, and I realized after I posted it what you might have meant. Caught me in the middle of a caffeine addicted delirum tremors espisode.

Call up Marty at raxles, Raxles.com, he will hook you up, they are the best axles out there.

its cool. well i got good news they actually found me an axle after market. they charged me 360 for the new axle and to put it on...do you guys think that was a good price ? the dealership told me 570 for an after market axle and for the oem part it was 900...i was like woah and my sears auto repair center they said they were going to have my axle re-manufactured and put on that that was going to cost me 340 plus tax. i paid 360 cash with no tax... what you guys think ??

People have mixed opinions on reman'd axles. Some go through them within a month or two and others don't have any problems.

Also depends if you're lowered...

Even Marty at Raxles does't like his axles on a car lowered more than 1.75".

He claims you throw off the proper geometry and if you get clicking there's
nothing he can do unless you raise your car back to his specs!

i got my axle replaced with an aftermarket one. i ended up paying 360 for everything. guess what. MY FREAKING FRONT IS STILL CLICKING. i dont kno what it is. i found something new as well

the other day i was messing around with my car so i started the engine and it sat in the driveway. i went to get a towel in the garage and the clicking started !! it clicked for like a few secs and then stopped. this is the first time i heard this sound and i wasnt driving the car...

the only times i hear the sound is in the morning when i get in the car when i tap the gas. its more like a cranking noise. sounds like something cranks and then stops.
the axle boot was ripped and it was replaced. i still have the noise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what is it does anyone know ????

your axle doesn't click when it's not moving, so is your axle clicking when you're turning? I'm assuming like it did before........clicking like how? You have a manual or an automatic?

Seriously though, if you go to you generation's specific forum you'll get more exposure and possibly better answers. You intial question of the availability of "aftermarket" axles belonged here, but now...not so much....

i cannot post anything i cannot start a new thread. it says i do not have access to that or something. its been pissing me off that is what i have been posting here.....

and no. it is not clicking when i am turning. it is more of a CRANKING. i got my axle replaced. it is not the axle. it is something else. if i drive the car for a while like 20 mins the sound goes away. if the car sits for a while i get in it start it and when i step on the gas it starts cranking...ill let go of the gas pedal and it will stop. the noise gets louder as i press the gas harder. when i let go the noise stops. it is ONLY when i press the gas. not when i turn it makes no noise when i am turning. only when going straight. i dont kno what it is it is making me SO MAD

i took it to get looked at again today and my guy that looked at it said he couldnt find anything. i dont understand what it is. he told me my rotor is all rusted and i need new rotors and pads soon...but i def do not think that is where the sound is coming from...

the rotor and pads wouldnt make this cranking sound. i need help. has no one experienced this sound before ???

RE: Clicking

I think it's safe to assume that if the car is running and not moving, your problem has nothing to do with the suspension or braking system. I wouldnt be too pssed about the axle...if the boot was ripped with no grease, the CV joint would have gone in a few months anyway. I would pop the hood and try to narrow down the origin of the noise....probably an accessory pulley (A/C, water pump, power steering, etc). You sure there is enough oil in the motor?

pm your generation moderator, you have more than 15 posts, so you should be able to make a new thread.
It sounds RPM related, but can you hear it after driving a while, meaning when you are done and stopped?

that is the weird thing. i cannot hear the sound anymore after driving more than like 20 mins. it is the weirdest thing...

i work like 10 mins away. i drove to work in the morning and the sears auto center is right there a min away from where i work..

i took it there and the guy jumped in my car and i drove around the lot and he didnt hear the sound...

it went away...

it will only make the sound when it sits and i first drive it ! it is the weirdest thing

Not going mad

Hey Falloutboy you're not going mad. Other owners have reported the same sound during parked conditions, including myself, with two different 2004 Maximas. The test for it is to rock the car while the park brake is on by shifting from 1st to Rev and back again.

Cause is unknown as yet but is NOT the CV's as far as we can tell.

Sound recording

This forum sucks (usage wise that is, not the people on it) I can't post attachments or start a new thread.
Anyone there that can who is interested in this RHS clicking noise issue ?

I have a good recording of this noise to post.
Even better I now know what causes it and how to fix it too.
When someone sends me a PM to me so I can get the WAV file posted I'll give the rest of the info.

Bye
Martin

DUde you have 3 fukn posts ? How is it that this forum sucks ? If we didn't have the rule about 10 posts till you can make a new thread- IMAGINE how many Viagra and other junk, threads we would have ?

Before posting BS like this, you need to read the rules.... I'm sorry that you are a cheap *** and can't afford to pay a mechanic to look at your car. You make a SN here and ask for free help. YA sorry for making that 10 post rule.

Well Blackbird, you're a mindless little foul mouthed cus aren't you :-)
Too bad there are guys like you around, I'm off to find some decent humans to converse with, bye.

PS. My info goes with me too, other forums are much easier to post on.

Yeah I am little. No I am sick of hearing people b!tch n moan about their car problems. I'm a mechanic, I work on cars for a living. People don't see me for needs, I don't make a living. PLAIN SIMPLE. I help out people here whenever I feel, or can. If you think I'm an azz hole.... thanks for the compliment.

10 post rule, how it was, how it will be. Lazy people like you need to read the rules before you post. Go to some other forum, where its easier to post and there are no foul mouthed cus like myself there.

Well guys I finally found the problem.

First, when I visited my son in Los Angeles I stopped at http://www.racetechnologies.com/ and their tech spent an hour going over my front brembos and claimed it was the driver side raxle.

When I talked to Marty at raxels he claimed the car was too low 2 1/2" and he would expect a clicking. I raised the car to 1.75 " and the clicking didn't stop so Marty sent another raxel and I had it installed yesterday. Now there is no noise when turning the wheel!! For those who guessed the axle you get a gold star!
