VQ35 cams in a VQ30

Well after about 3hrs of work last night i figured out a way to use 3.5 cams in a 3.0.... basically i had to make a template for the intake cam to reposition the guide pin (there is NO way around it) If you use the pin hole thats on the 3.5 intake cam it WILL be off and there arent enough teeth on the sprockets to adjust and make up for it. Exhaust cams will work no problem. Im gonna test these out but its looking good so far, now i just need to make spacers too get the cam gear where it needs too be.

hopefully this will make up for the low end loss that the JWT cams have

If you dont mind drilling new holes for the guide pins. I made a template using a old cam sprocket now i can drill them out easily

HKS cams have 2 pin holes for the camshaft sprocket dowell pin, works in VQ30 and VQ35. Exhaust cams are same on both engines. HKS 272 with 11mm of lift sound nasty on a VQ35.

I think it will all work considering the 3.0 cams fit a 3.5 head with proper clearance

tilley, would this make up for the drop in HP your setup has vs. a full 3.5?

you only put down 220ish whp while most other 3.5s are doing 230-40 whp with similar mods. Are the heads now the limiting factor? And would using the 3.0 timing setup allow you to use the 3.5 heads without the VCT?

and try to put a vq40 into ... my max next

But rememer I had a stock 2k TB (55mm I think) and 2k2+ are 75mm that is a huge difference. I had a pathy TB on for a day and that was a huge driving difference.

Oh, I though you were running the 00VI with a pathy TB. What do you thinks the gains would be with the path TB or even a Q tb?

I would like to see this too. What would be the easier way. getting all other parts running off 3.0 ecu to run on 3.5 ecu or getting 3.5 VQ to run on 3.0 ecu.

Whoa, forgive me but I dont often troll the all motor forum.

I wana be sure on this, the HKS VQ35 cams will have the alignment holes for the VQ30 sprockets in them out of the box? To use these I need JWT spacers?

You modified stock cams? A post above by BlackbirdVQ indicated that the HKS cams come out of the box with pin holes for both applications?

they have VQ30DET cams which are used on both VQ35DE and VQ30DET, by HKS. Tomei just released their 268 deg 10.5mm lift cams, they would require redrilling of the dowel pin hole and JWT spacers.

What would be the benefit of using VQ35 cams into a full VQ30? Im waiting for someone to do that and dyno it to compare to JWT's $1000 cams.

What about the 3.5 Stock vs. Tomei vs. Nismo vs. JWT vs. 3.5? Would the 3.5 valve springs fit in our heads (if there are different from the 3.0) as oppose to spending $$$ for the JWT valves springs?
