Making adapter plate for '00VI help.
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, and this being the All Motor forum and this dealing with making an adapter plate for the '96IAC onto an '00VIM, I assumed so move if needed.
Anyways, I am making an adaper plate so I can fit my '96 IAC onto a '00VIM when I get it Tuesday. I am trying to plan ahead so I won't have to go looking for it when I can be working on it. I have seen Rob's and Stephen Max's thread about the Pathfinder TB plate but my question hasn't been answered. I am making a plate out of steel or aluminum and I am using a dremel to cut it. What bit/accesory thing do I need to use? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance.

I made mine myself. I got a bit from sears... It looks like a cylinder with blade looking side. This bit will tear through aluminum like nothing

Ok. Could I use a piece of 16 gauge steel for a plate? It felt real sturdy.

hmm...wonder how much that costs.....ive never been to a macine shop before..do you just give them a block of alumnium and tell you what you need cut? or do you first make a template?....and im assuming that extended piece on the side was welded on?...i should probably just wait until I get my car back from the shop and go hunting around in the engine...
That looks nice tedo but the beads on the inside are going to hinder or decrease flow. Why not grind those down?
A machine shop is going to be annoyed as hel! to do this type of thing for you. The best way is to do it yourself. You don't have a buddy with nice tools or a shop at school?
Just wondering if the throttle cable ever has a binding issue from clocking the TB or do you make a new bracket?

The machine shop I went to get some modification to it told me he could make that. He said it is not that hard. SO if any of you want one, POST and I will call him to get a exact price.

I did some playing around with some basic rough numbers and their software. A 2.5" thick block of aluminum 4"x4" with a 2.75"center hole, and 4 bolt holes on the 4 corners for 11 pieces (since they make your quantity + or - 1) came out to $46.04 each. I didnt include tapping prices, or anything like that, but just a basic piece to get an idea of what we could do it for. With all the correct dimensions I could get a more accurate price. When I go home tonight I'll measure my extra throttle 4th gen throttle body, and if someone can get me the dimensions for the 00VI I cna play around some more. Only thing is I dont know if that can create that attached pipe piece that goes off of it. Dumb question, but whats that for anyway?
THen I dont think they could make it. They could mill the main adapter and bore a hole for it, but wouldnt be able to attach it. Could the IACV be mounted directly to the side of the block? If so, then I can draw it up with the holes for it.......
No, it can't. Why not make the two separate ones. The TB adapter block and the IACV adapter place. Take it to a local machine shop and tell them to weld it together with a pipe about 1in long.
Well, if everyone wanted to do that for themselves great. But since people were looking for a something that could be done as a group deal, I was trying to see what could be done with E-Machine shop. Oh well, close but no cookie. Sorry guys......
How about simply putting a plate over the IACV with some sort of nipple in it and remote mount it someplace (the firewall?) then run a tube to a nipple on the adapter plate? Would this be feaseable? How much flow would be required for the IACV to operate properly?
Any chance you could take pics? Another thought: How about just doing that method and using a 5th gen TB eliminating the need for an adapter plate entirely (minus the one for the IACV that seems like it would alot easier to make/have made)?
Another question for you nismo since you have a 1995. I believe the '95 uses less egr stuff. Is this true? Does this make this mod any easier?

Because the 5th gen TB's are smaller than the 4th gens. We want more flow; no?
'95 doesn't doesn't have less EGR stuff but it does have less crap sitting on top of the IM which is emissions related. But it makes up for the reduced clutter up there with the charcoal canister on the firewall. I think '95 is the only year with a charcoal cannister.
