Frontier
Frontier
Well today i drove a new frontier. I think that may be a replacement for my old pathfinder. The IM is made of plastic (which is why its posted here) I think it may be usable on the 3.5 with some mods. Damn that truck is sick 6spd 4wd for 24,200.

yeah the new xterra has a clutch-interlock device which lets you start the car without pressing the clutch. in car&driver, they demonsrated this feature. the driver road up to a 1 foot barrier so his front tires touch the barrier. he shuts the car off, hits the clutch-interlock swith. puts car in first gear (6 speed) and then turns the key and the starter has enoguh power to turn the engine over while the front tires go up the barrier. pretty cool thing.

Add me to the list. We are seriously considering a 6-spd Xterra 4x4 Off-Road this year.
And the clutch interlock is usefull when you need to just inch the vehicle over something, where full engine toque may spin the wheels or throw the whole truck off balance.

If they improved the quality of the inside AT ALL, then the chasis and definitely the engine improvement makes the Xterra an interesting possibility.
That or the Saturn VUE Redline will be replacing the Maxima as the family hauler, so I can start modding.

To demonstrate, Nissan product manager Orth Hedrick put the front wheels against a rock ledge about a foot high, then shut down the engine. He selected first gear, flipped a switch to allow starting without depressing the clutch pedal, and turned the ignition key. The starter motor engaged, and the Xterra began climbing the ledge. The engine fired almost immediately to seamlessly complete the ascent. This would have been a tricky maneuver otherwise. A rolling start at the step would bash the front end on impact; slipping the clutch over the ledge would have smoked the clutch for sure.

My Maxima has it too when I put my foot in the right place high up on the clutch.
