Agreed. Wouldn't be too hard just to try some spring blocks for the rears or maybe zipties for the front and see how that changes the launch. Another .3 off the launch could get you in the lower 12's for very little $$.

No need. Your power to weight ratio and 60' seems legit for the ET/MPH plus the weather looked pretty good.

congratulations, SR, although i am sad that you got to it before i (well tilley) could even try... but if you do want to come to a decent track, maple grove is nice and smooth and accurate and all that, and i would like to watch your car run in person...

oh and on the note about your absent power steering, is it any worse than a 4th gen? cause mine is awful, but i cant tell if the wheel is easier to turn or if i am getting stronger

anyway, congrats, and i wish you would share your secret with me

Jime said the zip ties really don't do much, but the rubber studs for the rear springs are crucial.

I don't know. Ask Jime where he got his. I think they might help you even while on street tires.

nice run man. i've been waitin for a na max to dip into the 12's- dont get me wrong here im a huge maxima fan , me owning an 01 ae auto. but it may sound strange i've always wanted my 79 malibu to lose to a max, this way i can feel more comfortable of what potential hp these vq's have - sr20den- me n the race team from chicago would really like to put the malibu against your max- we travel the midwest quite often and would be willing to meet at your track possibly for some $$$ runs or hey wtf we can run for fun just so i can show my race team that there is a max (4dr family sedan ) that can spank this 79 malibu - nothin to fancy done on the 79 - just rockin a small block 350 bored out to 406 , all motor! best time was 12.56 on slicks- lemme know how ya feel?

The normal TS programs go to 7100. This is for Joe Blow. I specifically asked for what I got. Go to the TS site and read up on the L-Spec. Several of us have been trying to tell everyone about this for several months now.

Listening is rare here in the org community. Most like to use their own trial and error and then come back to you with the error.

Honestly 7200 is plenty for me right now and as far as I know I have the best looking NA powerband of anyone here. It's going to require something drastic to make good use of 7500.

Plus, you have ARP rod bolts, which are critical for 7200+rpm in the VQ35s.

There's a thread about them in the all motor forum. It must be on the second page by now. Check all SR20DE's threads and you'll find it. I think it's called "look what came in today" or something like that.

Great job . . . you nailed the launch. That 1.9 60' is the key to that 12 second pass.

But I think even 1.7s are possible.

BTW, SR, did you try blocking your rear springs with rubber studs like Jime does?

No. But it certainly needs to be done. The A33 is a sloth off the line.

I was about to link him to that thread, but you beat me to it. It does look like am was full of **** for suggesting 2nd page. It's actually 3rd page. Didn't think it's been that long.

An interesting experiment would be to try the rubber studs on street tires first, to see how much it cuts off the 60'. That will be my only 1/4 mile aid for the first few months this year 'cause I'm broke. No slicks. Toyo 800 Ultras rated for only 190 km/h (118 mph)

I didnt see that in the mod list but remembered that he got em. I didnt think it was safe to rev to that RPM on stock motor. Good to know.

yeah, because they run street tires and can't put the power down for shia

A lighter A32 body with a sub-3000# race weight with a VQ35DE swap and the same mods at Matt could probably get an 11-sec pass all motor.

but then how much will he run with street tires?

yeah slicks and drag radials help alot cause street tires dont grip at all and the first 2 gears are useless.

Thats's assuming a basically unattainable 60' time. His car is fairly light as it is.
