Why would you even bother when the 01 has a VI on it already? And if you're swapping motors, why not go to a 3.5?

You would get better gains using the IM that engine originally came with the DEK.

If english isn't your 1st language, then ok you're excused.

Well I guess if you have the MEVI already, you can give it a try.

Why are you installing the '01 engine? The VI it comes with is virtually the only real advantage HP-wise.

He bought the motor without the manifold. Probably was the victim of someone here wanting a 01VI. I'd still be interested in seeing what kind of power the car makes with the MEVI though.

Is something wrong w/ the 98 motor? High milage?
I wouldn't even bother w/ the engine swap otherwise. You're missing the best part of the 01 engine already.

The 01 motor has better internals than the 4th gen. It's not all the same. Where I read it, I don't remember but it sure aint the same. It has some lighter internals and some stronger.

No, not really. The only documented major internal difference is the cams.

I've never seen a DE-K eclipse Hal's/Neal's #s of over 600 WTQ and around mid-500's WHP. There are NO major performance advantages that the DE-K has other than the VI.

Edit: I have read that Nissan used a different coating on the internals to further reduce friction. As for the mechanical parts themselves, nada.
