All Race NA 4th gen 3.0 update.

OK I finally got time to get the car where is it near track ready. I went to Ben’s and picked up the car today, and got the slicks mounted. I have not done any more weight reduction yet, and I estimate the car to be around 2650-2700lbs. It sits stock height on sprints. After I got the slicks mounted I had to play around a little bit so I broke out the ole G Tech.
I could not get the slicks heated up enough to get them to hook right, so I could only launch at around 3K and still spun ½ way through 1st. Here are the results.
2.1 60’
5.4 0-60
14.2 ¼ mile @ 102MPH.
Now if this is even a little accurate, I don’t have to tell anyone what will happen once I can get a 1.8 or better 60’ I don’t think a 13.8 would be any trouble. Lets just hope

Friday night, unless it rains. I can't wait. I just hate that I have to go out without a hood. It was messed up in the wreck, and I have not bought a new one yet. Oh well, I won't be the only ghetto a$$ in Montgomery that night. I also hate that I have to trailer a car that is not in the 11's.

Holy crap 102 mph. That's a high, possibly mid 13-second run on slicks. Neal ran 13.43 at 102. Awesome times, you shouldn't have a problem running 13s next time. Good luck.

First I ran them at around 25. Nothing but spin. Then I tried 18, that was a little better.

With that trap speed, you should be in the 13.7 range...maybe a bit lower.

102 isnt unbelievable on a gtech. they vary alot depending on the road and wheel hop/spin.

I hope so. I am feeling really good about it. I just hope the ACT clutch holds out for a while. I still have tons of weight to shed. The car still has both front and rear crash beams, all body metal, factory catback (replacing with 2.5" catless straight pipe), Factory fuel tank (replacing with 5 gallon racing fuel cell), as well as most of the heat and AC stuff. I think I can still get 300-400lbs off the car without getting very imaginative.
Then I am going to start trimming down the engine. Removing everything that is not essential to WOT operation. Then I am going to do the 00VI and see about an ECU. I think after this I will be well into the 12’s, though I might be dreaming, we’ll see. It is nice not having to worry about having to worry about driving the car to work and school.

Speedo confirmed it. It showed jsut a tad under 100 at the 1/4 which is right considering that I am running 26" slicks.

I swear people think gtechs are so accurate. OMFG. Take it too a track, I made so many gtech runs and you know it is never accurate cause you can never find a flatter road then at the track. i pull 99 traps on mine with street tires even though im over 105mph on the speedo when its done with stock wheel size on it.

26" Slicks sound a little too tall.

Chill out dude. In the very first post I eluded to the potential fallibility of the Gtech. I was just stating what it said, and that it was saying nearly the same as the speedo. I also said I was taking it to the track Friday. I just wanted to update everyone since I was hoping to get to the track several weeks ago. Gtech gives you a good ballpark, that’s all, and we all know that.

well there are a couple different paths of thought on this one. I ran 22" slicks when I ran my 13.1 on a 75 shot, and had to shift into 4th. Now if the taller tire lets me cross the line in 3rd, I can see where that could be a good thing. Honestly I would like them to be a bit shorter, but i got a great deal on them.

I would have gotten 24.5". Perfect size. Slightly smaller than stock diameter.

ok I am a little worried now. I went and bought new spark plugs since I was still running 1 step cooler for N20. Also I took a test pipe that I had and had a 2.25" pipe welded to it that followed the path of the stock pipe and then exited in front of the passenger rear tire. I thought by running 2.25, and then having a crush bend that I would have a degree of resistance, well now I don't know. The car is slower. I don't know if ECU adjustment will compensate at all, all I know is that it is in fact slower. I don't know what to do. I just have a hard time believing that the factory exhaust with 220K cat would create more power. Any suggestions?

ok. Thank God. I thought the car was not running just right, sounded like it had a cam at idle so I checked the connection on my coils, and sure enough, The middle prong on the #6 coil was bent. I fixed that and the car smoothed out. I could not take it back out where I run my 1/4 mile but I did run it beside my house, but I have to slow down before I get the a full 1/4 I got a 14.8@80MPH due to braking.

Davy,
I got your "built" engine up and running on the test stand today. Here's a quick vid of the start and run-up after assembly. It should make the max pretty quick...

Gtechs are ~5mph fast on the ET since it calculates at the 1/4 mark vs. tracks calculation over the last 60ft, so just subtract 5mph for comparison to other peoples track ETs. The times are within a .1-.2 usually depending on traction of course.

People knock the Gtech, but they've been used/around for awhile and are proven accurate ENOUGH for what we care. Best bet is to do several runs BOTH ways and average.
