2004 Vq35de

Would there be any advantage to swapping a 2004 Maxima VQ35DE as opposed to the 2002 Altima VQ35DE I got I use the 95 ecu? Are the cams the same? What about the Intake manifold? Internals?

Since you have one there, could you tell me the measurement from the center of the crank shaft to the bottom of the oil pan?

There is the Gen II VQ35 and the Gen III VQ35. Gen II generally makes 240 hp/265 tq (no matter what figures Nissan throws at you) and is used in the 02-05 Altimas, 02-03 Maximas. Gen III VQ35 is 350z/G35/04-05 Maximas/Possibly SE-R Altima (POSSIBLY) and usually makes 270-290 hp/270-290 tq. The difference is not clear. Cams? Exhaust system? ECU tuning? Intake Manifold? All?

On the trans side..

Looking at the PDF of the engine section of the service manual, the oil pan has a step.

I am looking for the X and Y numbers below:

|....................|
|....................| -<
|....................| y
|.........|_____| _<
|_____|

..........^---x---^

So, from the center of the flywheel to the bottom of the oil pan.. and the length of the "step" before the pan drops.

Thanks!!

(Tilly, have you been getting my private e-mail's?)
