Alti guys talking to Crawford Z about a plenum ..
Seems as if they have a donor car. They might be able to incorporate a Z upper to fit, or just plain out designing a new upper similar to the Z's that will fit the FWD configuration. It's still in the early stages, but still some food for though. The guys is dropping his car off today sometime.

But to think that they really don't have to, if they only looked closer at what's already on there .... or maybe this could be the solution for 280 whp ... Only time will tell ... All tehy would essentially have to do is move the TB port to a more FWD friendly location ...

Hey guys, I'm the one that called Doug @ Crawford and set up the donor car etc. I came on here to let you all know and it looks like you already found the thread.
We'll keep you up to date on this, if it goes into production (either modified upper to 350Z lower or modified set - likely from Kinetix), we'll definitely need to assemble a sizable first order.
Hood clearance is going to be the biggest concern after flange modification, etc., and may require cutting the heat shield or going aftermarket with a scoop.

no.. different companies.. Doug @ Crawford specializes in only uppers to match the 350Z/Murano/G35/FX35 lower plenums..
Even bigger gains were realized with Kinetix's version of the mod, which modded both lower and upper for massive high end gains. but obviously would cost more in development and final price.

Do I have to hit a certain post count before I can make new posts?
I wanted to post to you gents about the group buy for Nismo / JWT Cams (as low as $975):

Update!!!!!
Check this out guys.. looks like we might be in for a faster turnaround than originally thought.
this will be a little long.
well, dropped off the car at around 4:30 ...got a chance to shoot the sh*t with doug and check out the shop to see what he has going on in there.
a newer 04 z and some older ones were there ....on the wrack getting some tuning done. nothing major. talked about the difference between the z's VQ and the altima's...mostly he stated that it is definately the intake manifild and the cams that help give the Z the higher rating of horspower...( we knew that much)
but he also explained that the gearing and placement of horsepower really is what makes a difference. you can have 2 cars running different gearing and horsepower placement but they both put out 300tq/hp and you can make one a hell of alot faster
than the other.
he had to explain this to me seeing that the new manifold would actually pull away some low end torque and place horspower up in the higher rpm's.
From him taking a look at the car and some ideas, he actully thinks that there is alot of room in the engine bay and he doesnt foresee a problem. all it has to do is the actual upper plenum clearance. by taking out the sheilding matt on the underside of the hood , we make up about a half an inch ...plus when he takes off the engine cover he will see that there is more room than enough.
i brought it up to him no matter if the plenum doesnt clear , there are members wiling to do a hood modification , especially if we could get one in carbon fiber in order for this mod to work out......I just said "Put it on , if it works , we will find a way to deal with the clearance"
second thing that he will look at is the XS headers that i have on the car already, and see if he could come up with a better product like he did with the z's exhaust manifolds... wouldnt mind a better manufactured product with a mid range price compared to hot-shot and XS headers. i looked at some of the craftmanship of the work in there and it is all put together very well ....
I also **** a brick when i saw the 20 palletized upper plenums that just came in and primer and painting being done to finish up the parts. its not a quick assembly line type place and everything is hand made, even the casting that they made for the original runs of their products.
3rd...and you guys will love this....if our throttle bodies match up with the Z. witch they looked at them and they look almost identical ...he would be able to "open" it up to a larger diameter with no problems also.
he is going to let me know the complete progress of what is going on.....if we could use the complete upper and lower plenum (wich it looks that way, "his own words")
the throttle body modification. and the headers for the 3.5 guys that want better quality for a little more money that the XS and less money than the hot-shots.

It looks like the Crawford people are also misinformed about the cams. It's only been proven a dozen times that ALL VQ35s, except for the Pathfinder and the 300hp engines, have the SAME cams. I also would be suprized to see anything close to +25hp on the manifold alone. And most people are going to be upset with the amount of low end loss this is going to bring. New software to correct the FWD hobbled low end cam timing will be needed.

I just read through that other thread and noticed something. That diagram they have up looks very much like the intake manifold from a 1MZFE (Camry, Solara, ES300). I have one of these in my garage. Has anyone else ever seen one of these manifolds and taken them apart? Same valve inside and everything. Hmmm.......
