Can you post your hybrid motor config? (Block config and manifold)

I just want to see what's the most effective config for HP in hybrid motors only.

Thanks.

Nice to see you're the only one that has a hybrid setup.

Come on guys!

Soon as someone talks about a turbo, you guys are all over that ish.

HUH?? Doesn't hybrid refer to mixed-and-matches block/head combos?? I don't think a different intake manifold consitutes a hybrid. Even thought the 00VI doesn't exactly bolt-on perfectly, it's still a bolt-on.

If the manifold came off of another motor, that constitiutes hybrid to me. It all depends on the level you want to build the motor up to.

But it's a BOLT-ON. A different intake manifold doesn't mean you're building the motor up. It's an EXTERNAL modification. A hybrid motor in terms of the maxima means 3.5 block with 3.0 heads or vice versa. Anything external is a bolt-on, no matter the customization required to make it fit. But hey, it's your thread. I'll shut up.

It really has nothing to do with my thread which is going nowhere anyway; if your mixing parts from another motor (other than the same type), who are we to say it's not a hybrid? Who cares if it's a screw or a hose?

If you mix and match parts from one black to another, it's a hybrid. Why define it only to rods, pistons, heads and crank? The manifold feeds it all and is a component of HP also. Japmax has a full 3.5 with a MEVI, would that not be call a hybrid also?

What I'm looking for here is what configurations that have been done and work without issue for the benefit of extra HP.

Do heads not bolt-on? Do cranks and rods not bolt-on? The word hybrid means whatever he wants it to mean. Hybrid means to me, mixing parts from different engines, no matter the level. My hybrid is:

stock 3.0 block and heads
MEVI
PF TB and custom adapter plate

Bolt-ons in the general sense refer to external modifications. An intake is a bolt-on, as is a y-pipe. But if you want to take it there Stillen superchargers bolt-on too, but you'll never hear somebody with any sense call it a "bolt-on" modification. How can you call a motor a hybrid if it's stock internally? The motor itself remains unchanged, regardless of what's on the outside. You can call a 00VI/Pathy TB a hybrid configuration but surely not a hybrid MOTOR configuration.

deezo- Japmax has a 3.5 block/3.0 head combo. That is a hybrid motor.

Of course there is no strict definition to what "hybrid" means, but it has been generally accepted on the org as being used when a different head/block combo has been used specifically.

A different intake manifold makes a motor a hybrid just as much as I/Y/ECU is "all-motor".

So we are being consistent, since most of the threads in this forum have to do with 00VIs on 4th gens.

So even if he had a full 3.5 with a MEVI, it wouldn't be a hybrid? This debate is weak.

Notice I said mixing of parts from one motor to another (not from some store's shelf to your motor) results in a hybrid motor. SC's, CAI/HAI's and y pipes are "Off the shelf" bolt ons. They don't come from a production engine made by any particular car manufacturer. You add them as aftermarket parts. Hybrid is mixing of engine parts and the intake manifold is an engine part also.

There are levels of the extent we modify our cars, so heavily and some lightly. It's the same with building a hybrid motor.

Does it mean the car is not modified if it just has a Y pipe as opposed to and everything else that can go on the car?

I never said that it wouldn't be a hybrid configuration. My point is that it wouldn't be a hybrid MOTOR configuration because the motor ITSELF would be stock internally. That's the difference. The title of your thread asked for hybrid MOTOR configurations, and only japmax's car fits this description. Everyone else in this thread has hybrid intake manifold configurations. It's just a matter of semantics i supppose. :shrugs:

Edit: I'm done with this thread...

Shame on you.

Just remember when talking about motors, intake manifolds are a part of them. That's why the title of my thread asks for BLOCK configs and MANIFOLD. Everyone is using something different.

If you want to get technical, we are talking about engines. Motors are run off electricity.

Actually, "motor" is the proper term. http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionar...=motor&x=0&y=0
