Test drive impressions? At his weight it must pull like there's no tomorrow

What were those ground problems? Today I put the 4th gen wiring harness on the 3.5 and the injector plugs dont fit. I'm gonna cut the injector plugs off the 2002 wiring harness and use them on the 02 injectors to plug to the 95 harness.

ECU harness ground in front of IM was in a poor location. it was grounded too fuel rail since the 00VI doesnt have the tab too ground too.

How was the intall of the IM ... forgive me if this has been discussed as I though it had only been used with 3.0 heads/lower IM.

Wow hold up! Kris you mean to say that the DEK lower IM will bolt up to the 3.5 heads, and thus the rest of the 00VI manifold would just bolt up with no issues? There was no custom work and it just bolted up? OMG OMG OMG could it be?

The DE-K lower has to be port matched to the 3.5 heads.

THT: I was working on the car tonight, and ran into a few small issues. Nothing major, but it will set me back a few days, but i'll let u know when I plan to start it.

Tilleys99: One question, Is it okay to leave the CVTC solenoid off like this?

The reason I ask is because the rear one seems to get in the way with how I want to mount my IACV..

Has there been any dyno testing of the de-k vs the 3.5 mani yet?

OK, yes that would have been required anyways since they are of different shapes, no problem for my dremel . But here's the thing, does the 2k lower intake manifold BOLT up to the 3.5 heads?
That's the money question!

Some people around here dont pay attention too anything lmao.

I ran a 13.32 with a 3.5 with 00vi on it. It bolts on and just needs minor mods too work. It needs port matched though.

You either need a block off for the cvtc or you need it there casue it has oil pressure there (it would be a good source for oil for a turbo ).

you would think that but i hit the 8000 fuel cut many times and in the 1/4 i always took first to atleast 7800+, second to 7500-7600 and it always gave me a high 13 doing that.

My 3.5 will def be seeing 7500+

My point is that on a VQ35 you're going to have to pull something amazing to make 8000 worth it. Not saying you can't rev to 8000, just saying it's not worth it. Yeah it's cool to be able to brag about going to 8k, but I think Tilley's 7300 fuel cut is much more reasonable IMO...

This recent swap uses the full VQ35 setup? or has the VQ30 parts installed in it like the others?

Was just watching Monster Garage. The "Honey Bee" episode. They put a 2004 350Z engine in a 1976 Datsun 210. They had a guy, Naoto Negishi, who set up a ECU to run the engine... But they give no details on what is was, or how he did it. Google for the guy turns up nothing.

I'd love to know how he did it.. Maybe it is eaiser than putting all of the 3.0L parts on the 3.5L engine?

Maybe he's running an OBDI. 4th gen wiring is the simplest wiring harness to be able to run a VQ35 so maybe he used that...

Found this:

http://www.jtuned.com/content/templa...id=34&zoneid=2

Says:

As many of you know, the new G comes with a “drive by wire” throttle system which makes it quite difficult to tune due to the computer having so much control. Blast ditched the stock unit in favor of a mechanical throttle body and custom plumbed throttle cable. Fuel duties are handled by 600cc injectors and a Bosch fuel pump controlled in unison by the famed HKS FCON VPRO fuel management system.
I don't see a date on the article.

Also found this:

http://socalrsxforums.com/forums/sho...288#post176288

Blast Racing Gardena
They are right next to Motorex.
Naoto is the shop manager there he is the guy who basically built my car for me. I highly recommend him. His Boss is from what I hear the #5 top tuner in Japan. They are not cheap!!
Still no phone number though.

Chris,

It's too late now, but did you consider swapping in a 2005 Track/Anniversary 7100rpm oil pump for a bit safer life at 7000+rpm?

The used an HKS unit VPRO or CONV, I'm not sure.

One of those has a DBW ability, but you're 100% sure they converted to cable?
