2K motor swap

I know info is spread all over this forum about this but I thought I would try to consolidate this info for anyone else that wants to do this:
when dropping the entire motor from a 2K into a 4th gen (98 in my case) what are all the steps involved?
the throttle cables could be used if the 4th gen look to short for you. Do all of the connections plug right up? are there any other modifications that need to be made to wiring or hoses?
Why would anything need to be trimmed or shaved, does the motor sit slightly different in the bay? and is there any issue with the 4th gen manifolds?

I apologise for those of you that would be repeating yourselves, but if you guys that have done this could lay down the details that would be awsome, thanks guys

Why do you want to put another 3.0L in there? IMO, Personally, you would be better off dropping in a 3.5L, or leave your engine in there and slap on a 00VI. The motor sits exaclty as it did in 98, the manifolds will fit right in there. The mot notable differennce in your engine vs the 2k is the red engine cover ......... oh yeah and the intake manifold

Well, the 00 does have way better cooling than the 4th gen.

In terms of IM heat soak or general engine block cooling? More efficient water jackets? Interesting and boost friendly.

I just think it would be easier to drop in the whole engine after I open it up and replace some things like fasteners and bearings, rings and gaskets, then i'll pretty much have a "new" 2k with the VI already attached and i can start working on boosting, besides I'll have my motor to rebuild or sell whichever, but regardless of of the fact that I COULD go 200k with no probs I like to play it safe. What i'm going for at the end is a 96 ecu (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=350138) a 2k motor, lsd tranny and SC probably with intercooler.

Instead of a new 2k, why not have a new 2k2 sitting in there?

cause I would still be able to do the 96 ecu swap with the 2k engine and the other stuff i was talkin about and I looked at those pfi turbo kits, i'm kinda liking that better than a V2 at this point, I wouldnt have to track down a V1 bracket to solve those fittment issues.

You can still do the 3.5L with a 96 ECU ...

you're all about 3.5's arent ya I've read up a little on that and respect the inginuity you guys are putting out, but for me this is all I want, I know somebody is going to say once I get it i'll want more but thats my plan and i'm going to love it, besides i'll be able to tweak the turbo stuff later on too.
