So can a MEVI be adapted onto a 3.5 motor? If it was done, would it give better top end than the 00-01vi + 3.5? Just something stupid that I just pondered and thought I'd ask about, flame away

The 00-01 VI does everything the Mevi does and does it better. It's like when you get a new girlfriend

I know to an extent. But since the 3.5 in a 4th g lacks some traction in the lower gears, having a little less low/mid range power with the same high end might help out at the track, but i guess thats a stupid idea, hence the title

The problem with putting a MEVI or 00VI onto a VQ35 is the difference in intake ports. The Maxima and 350Z VQ35 cylinder heads have round intake ports, whereas the MEVI and the 00VI have oval ports. You can still fit the MEVI and the 00VI onto the VQ35 by using a VQ30 lower intake manifold, but the mismatch in port shapes will result in some loss of VE.

On the other hand, the Pathfinder VQ35 cylinder heads have intake ports that are identical to the VQ30.
