OIL Pressure Sensor

I took off the oil cooler that goes between the block and the oil filter on my VQ35. I am currently running only one short belt (for the alternator, No PS, no A/C), and it's a 5 rid on a 6 rib pulley, so I'm worried about the belt breaking.

What if it breaks and messes up the oil filter? Since it's placed at such a precarius position, I could lose the oil and then f*ck up the motor.

I'm running 95 wiring/ECU/timing chain on the 3.5 for those that don't know.

It's my understanding that there's an oil pressure sensor, but I'm not sure which. Either way, if the motor loses oil pressure, will this shut it off or will the motor keep running if the belt breaks and messes up the oil filter?

From my understanding all the oil pressure sensor does is blink that light in ur dash when ur pressure goes low, I dont believe it will shut off your engine for you.. By the time that light blinks it will probably be too late ;[

I don't remember; is the oil filter on the 3.0 at the same place as on the 3.5?

The oil filter is in the same place IIRC. Here are some pics of where it is on the VQ30.

The oil pressure light will warn you if you oil pressure drops a lot. If you turn your car off almost immediately then you should not have any significant problems except your engine can't produce oil pressure. However I have seen people ignore this light and sieze their motors.

I don't think a belt snapping will damage the oil filter. I have never heard of that happening. Althought the metal on the filter is not the strongest, this would not be my biggest concern unless it actually happened. Or you could just get a 6 rib belt and not have to worry about it.

I have to agree here. This is not worth worrying about.
