What kind of work should I be expecting (VI)
Using my 4th gen plenum, 4th gen stock fuel rail/injectors, 5th gen TB - what kinda of work will need to be done? The threads Ive seen (I may have overlooked a few) dont include this setup.
I know the plenum has to have 2 holes drilled...but there's one stud sticking up on 1 side of the plenum...do I need to knock it out?
If I wanted to run it with fully bypassed EGR, will the ecu throw codes or will it not recognize it at all?
Advice on how to mess with AICV and other necessary mods to get the VI on?
What RPM switch did you choose? Is there a writeup on the install of that?

Ecu will throw codes, contact BSwith(spell?), I believe he has bypassed the EGR system w/ the use of resistors to eliminate ECU codes. Also he can help you wire up the 5th gen IACV, it is built into the 5th gen TB.
You can use the Summit RPM switch.

That link just shows me the search:

I'll probably be bugging you experienced installers this weekend w/ all kinds of questions about this.
Finally got some down time for the install and plan to have mine up & runnning w/ VAFC this time next week... it's gonna have to be if I want to get back home.

i just bought my 00 upper IM yesterday. Im ordering the switch, and adapters this week. Me and another org member will be doing the install. What exactly needs to be drilled? Does anyone have any pics? I'll be using everything 4th gen, just 00VI.

Then you have to drill out two existing holes and install 6mm Keenserts or Helicoils (I recommend Keenserts.), and you have to drill two new holes to provide all the necessary mounting bolt holes.
You will also have to drill two holes at either end of the 00VI near the existing bolt holes.

Do you think the same resistor fix could be used on a 3.5l swap running a 96 ecu? I know that my egr system will be non funtional because of the ecu controlled egr system in the 3.5l. I am just concerned with 1. getting inspected. I have a hook up for now, but I dont like to gamble. 2. the CEL light. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice not to have one.

What I did was enlarge the 2 inner holes on the 00VI so I could use long bolts that would thread into the holes that are already there. But doing it my way required some minor port matching on the lower IM, maybe less than 1mm on each of the ports.
I also only used a total of 4 bolts, (just like the 4th gen IM) to hold the 00VI down, and that doesn't seem to cause any probs.

hey i got some adapter plates in stock now. contact me if interested.
i have 2 iacv adapter plates
1 adapter plate if you are using the 5th gen tb
1 adapter plate if you are using the 4th gen tb
the iacv adapter plates are needed no matter what
but the other plates you need to decide which tb to use

^^ yeah, im going to try to tackle this soon..
how many and where exactly do the vacuum lines need to be run (from and to hwere)...
is it just ocmmon sense, and a repeat of what's already there under the hood?

Common sense doesn't work.
