That is hot. Did you drill the cams or Tilley?

So now there're people able to do this in IA, PA, TX, and Canada. Wow, I have a feeling 4.5 gens will become more commonplace. Nice work, sir!

I had Rob drill the cams, but I made the cam spacers.

Why would you need the spacers if you're using 3.5 heads?

This was a motor only swap. The VQ30 ecu and engine harness were retained, so the VQ30 timing cases were used in order to keep the cam position sensor. Using the VQ30 timing case and cam position sensor required removing the VQ35 VTCC stuff and retrofitting the VQ30 timing chains and gears, hence the need for the spacers.

OK. I figured you used the 3.0 timing chain cover and sprockets and blah blah blah. That's plain to see. I just thought that people had to use the spacers because they sat too closely to the 3.0 heads. Nobody had ever said anything about 3.5 heads before. Why exactly do they require spacers on the 3.5 heads?

My guess: VTC assemblies are very thick items. So they stick out more. 3.0 sprockets don't. So to use the 3.0 sprockets (thinner), you have to space them out in order for them to line up to the original point (to align with the crank etc...)

So, you used an aftermarket lightweight VQ30 crank pulley for the CPS sensor, correct?

4th gen TB?

The VQ35 rail is returnless, but you added a FPR between the rail inlet and the fuel filter like you mentioned in another thread correct?

Last, what base fuel pressure did you set?

Also, can you PLEASE ask him to dyno?

I'd like to know what a VQ35 w/o intake VTC does.

I have neither VTC or cam VTC. 104 mph trap speeds and it pulls all the way to 160 mph where it hits the rev limiter in 5th.

Not that I tried it

Dyno will be done on a wideband in Dallas for Maxus. I cant thank Stephen and Tilley and all the others that helped with info and such on this enough! Thank you Maxima.org!

I do not have the Motrostrom UDP on there yet. I messed up and ordered one for the 3.5l and I need the 3.0l. I will have this resolved soon.

We used a PF Throttle Body.

Stephen did hook up an Adjustable FPR.

I am unsure of the BFP he used.

What other mods do you have done? I feel a definate increase in power/torque, but I am skeptical of how much. Only the dyno will tell. I dont feel like there is tranny melting power under my hood for some reason. Mabye is cause im used to driving my friends 1985 Rolla around. Those things are beasts.

Yessir. I teed into the fuel line between the fuel filter and the fuel rail, connected the inlet of the fpr to the tee, and ran a hose from the fpr outlet to the fuel return hose. This could be done to convert any return type fuel system to returnless, too.

Texas is only one state over from me ... Austin is still an 18 hr drive for me though, Texas is BIG.

For the record VTC do nothing after 3k RPM, and even when tehy do things before, they add toque, something that the 3.5L 4th gens seem to have too much of already.

100 lbs weight reduction, no AC, no PS, UPD, Cattman headers, 2.5" exhaust system, CAI, and stock, non-power robbing sawblades.

Best of all mods: a brand new knock sensor

Gotcha. Oh yeah, I take back what I said about not having transmission melting power. I was just being a grandma about driving it at first.

Up here, no one really knows much about the 3.5, so I just tell everyone I got a 350Z engine swap.. They are usually shocked by then.

I have a friend that works at a Nissan Dealership. I told all of the mechanics what I was doing and NOT ONE of them believed it to be possible. "The trans wont bolt up.....ECU....Fuel Line differences....blah blah blah. Should have seen their faces when I pulled up and popped the hood.

Cost of engine swap......$$$$
Price of seeing baffled Nissan Mechanics.....Priceless
