?'s on doing a VQ35 swap?

How come so many people use the VQ30 timing chain cover?

I want to do a swap. What I would initially do would be use the VQ35 block with VQ30 heads and the VQ35 cams and then my MEVI. The reason being because as of right now I just got my MEVI Extrude Honed and I would feel like I wasted all that money if I didn't use it. That doesn't really matter anyway. In the end later on I'll probably swap to the 02+ IM but for now I'll be staying with the MEVI.

So I was just wondering about the timing chain and as to why so many seem to be using it.

I've been reading through all the threads and I'm trying to figure out what all is needed for the swap. So if anyone could offer any more info that would be great. From what I understand I can use the oil pans from the 35. I need to plug a whole in the block (I forgot the name of it at this time). I need to add a tee to make it a return fuel system. What else am I missing? Probably a lot please don't flame.

They use the VQ30 timing chain cover because they're using the 3.0 timing equipment, like the chain, sprockets, etc.

And the reason they are using the VQ30 timing equipment is to avoid doing a full swap including ecu and engine harness and gauge.

Everything you need to know is linked in the "useful information" sticky.

True, that's why several threads are referenced. Most questions can be answered, though.

I know, I know, that was just a little comments.

SEARCHING for the 3.5 swap, is like the key here. and getting confused is a problem.
