Guys that have swapped over to the VQ35

For you guys that have swapped over to the vq35 in a 4th gen (I'm talking block, heads, IM etc.) have you had any problems afterwards? If so please describe. Any engine codes which came AFTER the swap or because of a modification you did that you knew would cause the code? Thanks!

Mine is running great. The only issues I have right now is the 1400 rpm idle, and throttle body bracket. Other than that, its great

BTW: No word on my codes yet lol

Other than the high idle and the cheap @ss bracket I made like Nismo, no problems. There is an annoying timing chain noise when I cold start it, but it used to do that with the 3.0. Thinking about ditching the Mobil 1 Synthetic and going for some Amsoil for both tranny and motor.

VTC rattle? Why would there be a rattle, there are not any extra chains when compared to the 3.0L ... Or am I missing something.

Or was a poor excuse to sublty state you were the only one that has a full 3.5L swap, VTC's included

yes vtc rattle. there was a tsb for it and it is only on 2k2 maximas. on 2k3, nissan fixed the problem so the chains arent dry on start up.

If you do the motor only swap (i.e. keep the VQ30 ecu) then the vtc actuators are going to be removed anyway (in order to use the VQ30 timing gears and chains) , so it is a moot point.
