piggyback vs. stand alone ecu tuners
I've noticed that a lot of u guys are using devices like the S-AFC II, V-AFC II and SMT-6/7 to tune ur engines for maximum na performance by controlling things like the a/f ratio and ignition timing.
My question is, which of those tuners can adjust a/f ratio AND ignition timing and which one(s) adjust only a/f ratio or timing? From what I understand, the SAFC and VAFC tune only the a/f ratio and the SMT-6/7 can do both. Is that right?
Also, what's the diff. b/w a stand alone engine management system and a piggy back style system? Is the only diff. b/w them the obvious fact that the stand alone system can make it's own custom designed fuel/ignition curves where the piggy back system can only modify the stock ECU curves up to a certain point?
What models are you guys using? I'm really tryin here guys and I've even checked out apex-i's website for more info, so please, no flamin ok?
Thanx to all who respond!
