$$ in all motor setup

Well since the FI guys have had the same thread, be interesting to see how much we got in our setups.

I'll start (converted into US money for you guys to compare)

VQ35=950$
Headers=700$
Catback=500$
SS Cat=200$
PR motor mounts=260$
Motorstorm pulley=90$
Clutch=400$

So about 3100$ for me, and about 500$ more to get it tuned (when I get off my lazy @ss). Some of that 3.1k is pretty uselelessv (spending spree). I think I could have achieved the same thing with 2-2.2k.

i havent really spent too much money on performance yet, but here are some stuff

00VI (almost complete) - $400
WS Y-Pipe - $215
TS ECU - $475

so to total it up, i have spent $1090. more performance parts to come very soon....

my plans
Aftmkt Intake (since the stock wont work with VI) - ~$80
JWT ECU - ~$500
5th gen Clutch - $160
Fidanza Flywheel - $400

thats how far i might go with NA mods, soon after that i will be joining the turbo crowd, or i might just go straight to turbo..

What about bragging rights w/ each set-up ... Ww can get a good $$ value on each .. but then again some of us pay different prices for the same mod ...

This thread is titled $$ in ALL MOTOR SETUP. Why is there only ONE all-motor car in here? Every car except emmas97 is just NA, not all motor. We had this discussion a while ago but I guess it didn't get through.

I like to think I have some common sense every once in a while. i'd probably shoot myself if i sat down and counted how much money i've spent on this car anyways...

Well then please explain what an all motor set up means because I always assumed it was being NA.

Because if I'm understanding you correctly then the only thing making Emmas97 all motor is the cams and the rod bolts, everything else is irrelevant.

All motor setup means you have more done than simple bolt ons.

Also it's funny how people are listing every mod they have.

Altezza lights $200
neato shiny billet grille $95...

This thread is about how much you spent to go all motor in your car, not about your ypipe/intake only mods just because you are still NA, or about your wheels or dash kit or CD player or any other stuff like that.

By the logic of some people in this thread I could put my stock beater in here since it's still N/A.

I agree, but then that would eliminate 85% of threads in this forum ... Bolt on forum/All motor forum, for all logical reasons are interwoven into one on this forum ... or so I like to think so.

Sorry I can't post new threads and I have a question that you guys will probably know. I am new to maxima but not to nissan. I have a VG30DETT (300z tt) will it fit into a 4 gen max? I figure most things will have to be relocated. Also what is the best horsepower gain for the money a supercharger or a turbo?

I completely agree with the mods that don't deal with any type of performance dealing with power like suspension, etc. But I don't see how a y-pipe or intake doesn't get counted seeing as that is part of a motor setup. I understand they are bolt ons but look at it this way, if you're TC or SC you would perhaps get a 3 inch exhaust rather than a 2-1/2, does that not consist of part of your setup even though you are trying to improve power by using it?

Because honestly, I don't think many on here have actually down much when it comes to internal things on the engine like pistons, rods, crank, timing system, etc., etc., etc. There are so many calculations and things that need to be done on each individual car to get to the point of what piston suits best for you car or getting different cams.

But I guess if what you're saying is the only thing that truly consists of an all motor setup than I guess you can't argue with that.

I get the impression this is supposed to be an informative thread for those thinking of going the all motor route (i.e. block swapping, internal swapping, headwork, cam work, etc) and not another "bragging" thread about how much money people have wasted on their car over the years. Anyone who has any aspirations of doing any sort of all motor build already knows how much a dang i/y/e setup costs, knows how much a jwt ecu costs, etc and if by some chance they don't they should, and can look at any number of the trillion threads that have that very info listed in plain english all over this forum.

I get the impression that this thread is to list the cost of things that are not so easy to figure out, i.e. how much money and effort goes into doing a non-traditional, non-simple-bolt-on setup. Not the $15,000 people have spent on every single mod ever done to their car including suspension, lame lighting, stereos, wheels, special miracle oil, etc.

an extrude honed intake manifold is a bored out 3.0 IM (i think) made by extrude, which is now out of business ..... and if you look around in the classifieds you will find the 00vi's. that is where i got 2 of mine, and the rest off of car-part.com... be patient and eventually one will show up in the forums for a decent price.

Thanks Emmas. Was the honed manifold better then the 00vi? For the 00vi swap do i need the upper of lower part of the manifold? Car Parts give you all these options:

Upper, Calif, from 7/99
Lower, Calif
Upper, Calif, thru 6/99
Upper, exc. Calif; thru 6/99
Lower, exc. Calif
Upper, exc. Calif; from 7/99

Thanks again!

The extrude honed is nice but it still won't give you high end hp which is what everyone is looking for in getting a different intake manifold.

I didnt know a full 3.5 swap qualified as a "meer" bolt on.
