JWT vs Emanage Ultimate
#2
I wouldn't get either right now. Reason being that no one has successfully advanced ignition timing and gotten the rev-limit thing to work with the E-manage Ultimate on a VQ30 ECU since it's so new. I would wait to see if it's possible first. If so, the EU is the better option by far. If not, then the JWT is the way to go, with perhaps a S-AFC to fine-tune some more.

jwt ecu is in my opinion the best route bc it's plugs in 5 minutes and your ready for the world. e manage isn't that easy after u spend the 700 for it and you get the 400 recommened wide band o2 sensor to help tune it and still wide up spending another 350 after finding out you have no clue how to use it and have somebody else to tune it for u. U had wished you just bought a jwt ecu

Just like TS did for ... damn forget his name .. but he has the timing curves, and his were much more advanced than any TS or JWT ... that was ever tested .. and all upon his request. On a 3.0L ECU no less ... Food for thought for JClaw ...

Has anyone had the ECU specificly modified to their mods. IE. I am going to add headers, but would prefer to not have to tune just so I don't blow up my engine. Is the stock ECU rich enough that by the time you have an intake and headers you are lean, but safe?

I think I may get mine from brandon, per my conversations with him over email.
you got yours from sharif, correct?
I think alex is working on the pinout for the harness. shouldn't be too hard, but i have to get my car running right first.
since i installed my 410's this past weekend, something is up.

Plus, when I add more mods (like some sort of respectable intake manifold), I will need to play with A/F some more, and if I ever decide to Supercharge the 3.5L, I'll have the tools already.

I'll be getting mine from Shariff. 638$ shipped for EU and harness, even here in QC.

Yes I got mine from Sharif, but I've been following Brandon's progress with his IS300 over at his forum too. Sounds like his rev limit problems were just a setup boo-boo, which is good news.
I don't think the wiring will be that difficult either. If I happen to get to it before Alex does I'll try to post up a pinout as well.
Good luck figuring out your problem...

Well, I want to run both water and air temp inputs, which negates using the knock sensor inputs on those lines so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that one yet, as I'd like to have it connected. I wish they hadn't lumped those 3 together on only 2 inputs. I'm considering using the analog input for the KS but not sure about that yet... Option 1 and Option 2 I would use for WBO2 and pressure sensor if I were boosted like you; since I'm N/A I'll just use #1 for the WB.
Obviously things like MAF, TPS, coils and injectors are straightforward but for crank/cam I think initially I'm going to go the route Brandon did - ie just hook up the crank signal and leave the cam and tach rpm inputs unconnected. If that doesn't seem to work then I'll start switching it up.
As far as outputs go I'm going to use the NVCS to activate my VI, and probably the water temp relay to activate the fans in combination with a lower temp T-stat. I may also use the aux output for something.. maybe a shift light.. not sure.
That's my rough plan at this point, but I'll likely give it some more thought in the days ahead before I get to the actual install.
How about you? What were you thinking of doing?

i was looking at the iat and the water temp for my ambient as well. I was also going to do the same with the crank sensor.
as for some of the other things, I am still learning.
I figured out the tables, but since I didn't use the blue, familiarity with the software is not my forte.
I would like to talk more about our two setups (and possibly jclaw's) so we can get a good base tune. Since the blower does not go into boost until around 3500rpms, we can have virtually the same tune. (oh wait a second, i now have a z32 maf and larger injectors, nevermind)

Ya unfortunately your setup is going to be different from both mine and JClaw's. BUt it does raise a question I'm wondering about too, namely how is the injector scaling done? I don't have 410's like you but I'm not stock either (DE-K injectors). Because if the EU does the base scaling via airflow then that would affect timing also wouldn't it?
I wonder if it'd be better to set it to stock injectors and then just adjust the maps, rather than trying to scale the base injector size. This might be more of an issue for you though, as the gap between stock and 410's is larger than for me with 290's.

I think 270's (what I have) are good for about 270whp. I highly doubt I'll be maxing that. In fact I don't think anyone has made it to 270whp N/A yet. The closest is SR20DEN but he has his super duper intake manifold

Mr duck i will let you know if its worth it in about an hour...

However if the EU capabilities can be fully used on our cars it will truly eliminate the need for a JWT or TS ECU.

ok steve, and dandy i guess i will be waiting for you 2 to be the testers, and if all works out, than looks like i will be going with the emanage. Main thing is the rev limiter that i want to work out, but we shall see. thanks everyone for your inputs.

Here's the bottom line. If you just want to get your car tuned once and that's all you care about then get the JWT ecu. But many people want to tune their car on the fly. Everyday is different so it will need to be tuned differently everyday to get top power. Every mod is different so it too will need to be tuned to that. etc. etc. etc.

Would like to know if you guys got the E-manage Ultimate working ????If so I have a few questions . I just finished up installing one on a 99 w/vortech supercharger and 370cc injectors . Runs real rough ?? like it not firing on all cylinders ??
I have done many intalls on 350z and g35 with no issue . This one has me
If so can someone e-mail me as I cant seem to search or e-mail on the forum yet ????? Which I think is foolish as Noobie can search instead of posting repeat questions . I am a member of 9 car clubs and many forums and have alway had the search open from mday one upon registration
ballistic@vehinet.com
thanks in advance, Scott
