ECU swap.
I asked this in the 5th gen forum and got one response....
So I will ask here because you guys deal with this quite often swapping engines.
I have my EGR plugged off on my 00 Cali. So I get a SES for my EGR, I want to get rid of it because the only place around here that will fix it wants $400 and I would rather get rid of it, drop weight and keep my intake manifold cleaner....
I wanted to know if I could Swap in a 01 ECU (or can you reprogram my current ECU), that does not have EGR, would this cause other problems?
If swapping ECU's will not work, how can I get rid of the EGR without getting an SES?

Im actually contemplating swaping a '01 ECU into my '96 for the above reasons as well. When I find the '01 FSM I will look into it further and see how much work is needed. Also as another bonus TS can reprogram the rev limiter on the 01 ECUs, among other things.
