alright I have been reading these posts about putting the crankshaft and rods from a vq35 into a vq30 to get a vq33 and comfused, i though I saw a thread with this done successfully and then there are a bunch of treads that says this dosent work, does it work and how much are the parts?

Any particular reason you want to go to more trouble to get less displacement vs just using a VQ35 long block?

maybe replacing the crank and rods is easier than dealing with wiring and trouble shooting for him

well cause probably doing the stroker would be cheaper then a full VQ35 swap

It's probably close for someone that knows that they are doing. But if you have to hire someone to break down your VQ30 and bascily rebuild it with thew parts, that will probably blow a VQ35 long block swap out of the water. (note that I didn't say full VQ35 swap)

WTF? Did you guys ever hear of using a full VQ35 with VQ30 timing chain and wiring?

No way. With the full VQ35 swap all you need is a VQ35 (800$) + 130$ for JWT spacers and get the cams drilled.

The way you want to go, it would cost you the same thing, except you'd have to tear down both motors completely.

Not necessarily.

I have a spare set of VQ35 crank, rods and pistons I would sell for $150 plus shipping.

I thought the whole vq33 thing had been put to bed due to piston not clearing the heads?

The pistons do stick up an estimated .6 mm (.024"). Since the head gasket is about .036", there is clearance to start with, but at some rpm level there may be contact due to the rods lengthening under spin loading. No one knows for sure at this point.

This has all been thoroughly talked about in other threads.
