5spd Swap- Part II ***PICS***

Just to clear up a misunderstanding, 3rd gear does NOT have a double synchro in any maxima transmission from 95-2001. 1st and 2nd gear are the only gears with double baulk ring synchros from 97-2001. 95-96 transmissions had double synchro on 2nd gear only (single synchro on 1st, 3rd,4th ,5th). 97-2001 has double 1st and 2nd, and single 3rd, 4th, 5th).
The reason you don't see people breaking 3rd gear on 5th gens as much or ever are because a) there are MANY more high powered 4th gens, and b) 5th gens have less mileage in general.
The owner of the trans shop gave me a good analogy the other day about gears. You can slam your front door as hard as you can for years, but eventually, it's going to break if you keep slamming it. 4th gen transmissions are slammed harder (more people race them, more people have super aggressive clutches in them, more people put down LOTS more power in them, and they have more mileage.)
