Yeah it would be cool. That's my goal. Hopefully by late Jan or Feb, I will be ready to hit the track. I really want to take some videos, but my camera only takes 15 second videos. I'll see what I can get together before then.

With the aftermarket performance parts currently available, 300whp na is impossible. If you did a custom IM with individual TB's with custom tuning and all the bolt ons, 300whp would be possible. But with off the shelf parts, no.

How did they get there?

How did they get there?

I don't know how they are different, but there's tons of sources that say that the 35th anniv. edition has "revised pistons" and a revised cam profile.

There's no reason you couldn't put in better pistons into a maxima 3.5, put on dual exhaust like the 350z has or put in different cams. But overcoming the problem of the IM and lack of variable timing on the exhaust cam will be pretty hard.

I know about the rod bolts, but that is only for rev insurance.

Never heard of the pistons being different, this would affect CR....

And also, how many AE's have you seen get 300 whp?

My car has dupicated a Z33 6MT (287 chp stock, no rev up ) power curve, but my car is 4AT, so we're doing pretty decent with what we have.

But this is a pissing contest ... so I'm going to let time and Greddy get together and see what happens.

The 287 HP engine is the same engine internally as the FWD Altima/Maxima engine. Same cams, same compression, etc. I've seen 288whp and 295whp on 287hp version.

NOBODY has ever dynoed a FWD VQ35 with Headers/Intake/Cat/Catback, Cams, a made-from-scratch aftermarket plenum and a fully working piggybank capable of advancing timing at will.

I'll go on record to say 300whp NA on a 4.5 gen will be easier to achieve than 300whp on a 350z/G35 because of the samller wheels, smaller brakes, much lighter flywheel, less rotating mass and lighter gears in the 5MT 4th gen tranny, and of course the lack of drivetrain loss coming from the driveshaft and rear differencial.

It will take a while to get there however.

I love my dyno queen-ness when it comes to our lovely Quebec roads, which absolutely require a pothole detector if you have 17's or 18's. Sawblade power!!!

The FWD 3.5 is not identical internally to the 287hp version of the G35/350z. The cam profile for the G35/350z is more agressive.

Note that I added the disclaimer that 300whp is impossible with current off the shelf parts. I think the big barrier to 300whp in a FWD 3.5 is the IM. I don't think the kinetix IM is the answer either. If 300whp was possible with the parts that are currently available, one of the 3.5 Altima guys would have done it by now.

I do agree that the 3.5 FWD IM is better than the 95-99 USIM though.

I've seen a pretty sick 1-off manifold utilizing individual velocity stacks for the 350z. I'm not allowed to show the pics to anyone though, supposed to be a secret until the owner/designer unveils it.

I don't know where you're getting this information from but a quick search in my 2002 maxima and 2003 350Z FSM's produced info to the contrary. Both versions of the motors' cams have the exact same lobe height and the cam timing with the VTC system off is identical as well. There are NO internal differences between the two.

Hmm, I always thought they had more aggressive cams. Well, I know for a fact that the 300hp version does have more aggressive cams and sources for that are all over the place.

Yes, but the guys getting nigh 300whp NA are doing so w/ the 287 HP engine. Which means we can do the same thing with Cams and no other internal work + aftermarket IM/tuning and all bolt ons.

B-line?

Right now I'm torn between straight inline air horns/huge plenum/TB on the side and true ITB's. Both WILL make more power than stock but I'm wondering if going the extra mile (MAP instead of MAF, 6 throttle bodies, no plenum) is worth it.
