3.5 Clutch setup in 4th gen
OK. I have the basic understanding of the swap after my last thread and my mechanic and I have talked about everything and basically see what has to be done. Now another issue my mechanic brought up is regarding the clutch setup. He suggested that I should upgrade the clutch but I don't want to put out money for a new one. My clutch is about 6 months old and it is an Excedy Stage 1. Then he stated that maybe I can just upgrade the pressure plate. (Confused???) Now my question is does anyone know of any pressure plate unit I can purchase by itself that I can put in with the excedy??? Also, what type do you suggest? I will have all bolt ons with the 3.5 and I will be sending my TS ECU back to Technosquare to get the timing advanced further. Any suggestions???

The clutch consists of two main parts the pressure plate (it provides the pressure - go figure) and the clutch disc (it provides the friction against the flywheel). You could just upgrade the pressure plate and that would probably be a fine way to go if your disc is indeed fairly new. The main reason why people upgrade both at the same time is because it's easier to do them both at once and most people are replacing old worn out setups where the disc is questionable at best anyway.
If your not going to be turbocharged or supercharged or have a lot of NOS I'd keep your old disc and just spring for the pressure plate, your call.

I think I made a mistke fellas. Maybe he said upgrade the disk??? Not sure now. Well if you were in my situation what would you upgrade for more power and durability? Also, can any pressure plate or disk be used or will some not work if I try to change???
