3.5 swap and emissions
3.5 swap and emissions
hey guys, i'm shopping around for a 4th gen to put a 3.5 into. The problem is i'm not lookign to spend alot and the 95's are the cheapest. I know that 96 and up used the obd to test emissions and the 95 use that dyno machine thingy. Will i pass the emissions test if i put in a 3.5? Need to know this before i go out and buy a car. thanks!!!
My knowledge is limited on this topic, but your best bet might be to get a 2002 VQ35 because that model uses the exhaust cams rather than EGR to control emissions, so you don't have to worry about having to lose EGR. Slap a good catalytic converter on that and you might be set.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Tilley is in the process of doing a 3.5 swap on my 95 Maxima, I'm not due for inspection for another year. However, would there be a problem for emissions with 3.0 headers, budget ypipe and the rest is stock?
