igntion upgrade?

I was curious about something...as far as I know there's no way tp upgrade the factory setup due to the coil-on-plug system. My question is this...MSD does make a setup that can run up to 4 coils so could you modify the system using 3 coils designed for a GM 3800? If so, does the DIS-4 system require that you use the control module to run properly or does it just need the coil setup? This is a complicated and seemingly pointless question I know, but I'm still wondering.

Splitfire makes upgraded coils for us. They should help, but not many people have dished out the money for them.

You only need to upgrade this if you're running really high power. Doing this on an NA car with bolt ons will almost yield nothing.

Well, I'm sure that the stock ignition would be enough to run the 100 wet shot that I plan on adding this summer. However, I know that with the added cylinder pressures of nitrous, boost, etc. that any help that can be given to the ignition system the better and the multiple spark given by the MSD seems to be the wy to go. I'm just not sure if it can/has been done before. Any clue on whether the DIS4 system that would be used to Grand Prix's and whatnot uses the factory ignition control module or no? Because if not, that would be the only way I know of to do it without major wiring issues
