I just finished my 00VI swap over the weekend. I used the 4th gen lower, which required considerable modifying. Some have used two of the center bolt holes in the lower, but the ports are off 3/16" if you do that. I filled, drilled, and re-tapped all four center bolts for a direct port match. I would not recommend this to the novice without machining tools. I probably spent at least 4-6 hours alone on the lower.

The 5th gen lower is obviously made for the upper, so there is no modifying involved. The 4th gen fuel rail and injectors will not work, so you have to use the 5th gen fuel rail, injectors, and fuel pressure regulator. The injectors are different and so is the fuel pressure, so you have to mess with fine tuning the a/f ratio with VAFC or similar piggy back system. It's just a matter of which direction you want to go and how much money you want to spend. I personally would do the 5th gen intake manifolds, injectors, fuel rail, throttle body and tune them with a VAFCII if I had the money. And don't forget the rear valve cover and coil packs. You have to do some grinding on the coild bosses and redo the PCV valve is you try to use the 4th gen stuff.

I can say for sure that it is a worthwile mod as far as performance goes. Worth every bit of the $300 I have invested.

Then you gotta use 5th gen injectors (which requires rewiring)

I was thinking of using 5th gen Tb and just leaving the iacv plate with water lines and just capping it off where the iacv sensor goes has anyone did this and how well did it work.

Depending on what year of car you have, you will likely have trouble fitting the TB with IACV, as there are coolant pumps and other devices just below the TB. The TB plate is very easy to make and the coolant lines are very easy to loop. I don't know any advantage of leaving the IACV there, if not functional. Just my .02.

I made my plate and still had fitment trouble with the primary vacuum spyder. I had to bend the bracket and re-route a couple vacuum lines to make room for the TB.

im not going to leave the iacv just the water jacket with the line already and jsut cap where the sensor goes.

Even then, the lower part that screws to the bottom of the TB extends down approx. 2.5". I had to bend some stuff around with the IACV completely removed and blocked off. Remember, the 00VI has a different angle and sits lower in the back than the USIM. I didn't know how everything was going to fit until I took the USIM off and test fit the 00VI. Only then will you know if it will work.

I have plenty of experience working on cars and it was a difficult swap. I think anyone could do it, as long as they take the time and do the research. I spent months learning everything that was out there and still learned a ton during the swap. It is well worth the effort.

You're going to have to tell us a little more about the swap. Are you using the 4th gen or 5th gen TB, IACV, TPS, etc. I doubt anyone could even guess at this point without knowing more about the swap.

I read that the 4th gen tb has some issues after doing the swap.

Hey do you guys recommend using the 5th gen VC or the 4th gen? I'm looking at the pics and wondering which one is actually easier.
