alright if anyone could tell me what all i have in my posession. here's some pictures of my intake manifold with all the stuff that came on it.
if there's anything i dont need and someone wants, i'll sell it.

the blue thing with the harness on it. do i need that? it looks like alot connects to that.
i thought you had a 3.5..

 

also, what size bolts did you buy for the intake manifold (that go through the upper and thread into the lower manifold.

 

Blue thing is the 5th gen Evap I think. I used my 4th gen EVAP. I had a dek to take the parts of off but they are 10mm bolts.

Yes that's the EVAP which is electronic on the 5th gen but vacuum operated on the 4th gen, which is why we use the 4th gen.

EDIT: The bolts are not 10mm dia.. they are 6mm x 1. You're thinking the socket size is 10mm...

Long and very long You might need to go to a specialty store. I would take the manifold in the store and see what bolt sticks out a few threads when you put it in the im.

Those are pretty much the only bolts I need to get huh. That's the only spot the manifold connects to the lim.

 

They are M6 x 1.0 not M8s. They are 3 long ones and 3 longer ones. Check bolt depot.com cause your gonna need those long bolts and they are hard to come by at some hardware stores. You will also need two long M6 bolts for the EGR "boomerang" return pipe.

 

Thank god I'm simplifying the issue and calling Dave B tommorrow for bolts and gaskets...

EDIT: Kevlo, just curious, what are you and others using to secure the throttle cables? Are you able to bolt all the stock equipment up to a good location?

 

you can leave the 5G throttle cable bracket and use that.. That is what I did.

 

I don't have that option (mine didn't come with one). Any other suggestions? Do you think it's possible to align the stock bracket over some of the unused holes on top of the manifold and just bolt it down so it's facing decently?

 

Its possible, but make sure it will not loosen up..

 

Yeah, just have to find atleast 2 holes to bolt it up to and make sure it's nice and tight. Who knows, maybe I'll order that bracket tommorrow when I call up our good friend Dave B for the bolts and gaskets...

 

Oops you're right I did say 8? I had a brain fart. They are indeed 6's, which is what I was thinking but wrote 8 for some reason.

Nope, I haven't. Is it possible to take the bracket off the car without removing the cables and what not? If I can I'd like to take it off the car tommorrow morning before I call Dave and see if it'll line up on the 00VI.

 

I used the 4th gen bracket with mine and one bolt. It's been fine for over a year. I couldn't use the 5th gen bracket and I lost that bracket too.

 

Is that what you have on in your one picture? You suppose you could do me a favor and show me which bolt hole(s) you used?

 

I drilled a hole in the stock bracket.

Good luck on the bolts. I called daveb and mine are on backorder. I ended up calling a local fastner supply house and found mine (because I'm impatient and need them to line up and re-drill my lower). I picked up m6x140 and m6x110 bolts. I'm using the 4th gen LIM, so you may need something different if using the 5th gen LIM.

 

I called Dave this morning as well, and just like you said they're on back order. I'll be getting the shipment of stuff meant for stock, he tells me. I also managed to order the upper -> lower gasket, but didn't have the $62 to shell out for the lower -> head gaskets. $62...that's insane.

 

Well, looks like you're getting mine since I called Dave this afternoon and he said that my bolts came in, so I told him to pass them on to someone else since I already picked up some.

Kev, since I'm starting to get into modifying the upper manifold in terms of vacuum ports (i.e. I'm adding a 1/2" port in place of the side port on the TB neck), I'm curious what all you have hooked up. I see how you have your IACV hooked up, as well as the EVAP (going to the port on top of the TB neck) but what else is hooked up?

For example:
-The port on the side of the TB
-The port on the very, very end of the main manifold "tube" (the one on the end that sticks upward)
-The two in the middle

I see the two in the middle go to some sort of factory bracket/hard lines, I'm assuming 5th gen, but what do they eventually lead to?

you might have to bolt your bracket to a different hole, or drill it in a different location. look how thick kevlo's adapter plate is. i'm using the 5th gen tb and i know i'll have to use a different hole as well. if my 00vi setup goes well and actually works, i'll post up pics.

 

oh kevlo-

why is your strut bar on in one pic and off in another? do you still have it on now?

if it makes contact w/ the upper, you think it's okay to leave it on? even if the 6 nuts holding the bar in are torqued correctly?

 

That's ok. There are like 4 bolt holes in that area almost in a line that will go unused, so I can always move it forward or backward as needed.
