First of all, let me say that I haven't yet installed the FPR (the "OBX-R" FPR was/is pure crap, BTW). I've since purchased an Aeromotive and will be installing it tomorrow.

Issue: When I shift out of neutral and/or brake moderately hard, the car almost dies (actually has died once--it's worse when the revs are coming down from higher RPM). Must be some sort of vacuum issue, as I'm certain I've a few issues of that kind to work out. The brakes feel a little soft as well...maybe these things are related? Other than this, it runs excellently. Ideas fellas?

All vaccum lines ran properly? Nothing tapped on brake booster line?

Runs prrrfect. Idles at 700 (slightly more vibration due to ES mounts), cold starts normally, doesn't leak and THE TIMING IS SPOT ON!!! Man I'm tired .

csb,
Did you do it yourself, or did you get somebody there?

Where are you located, I gotta see this thing?

With the exception of a few phone calls to other 'orgers for advice (thanks StephenMax, GoalieKeg and MDeezy!), bringing a guy in to set up the timing with me and another guy to help me drop the motor back in the car, I did it myself. I also did ball joints, stabilizer links, the lower radiator support, both drive axles, the starter and a few other odds-n-ends. Given the amount of money I was saving by performing the labor myself, I figured I might as well go over everything. I'm in Brooklyn Park, BTW...feel free to come over and check it out. PM me for my cell.

Nice, I got mine up and running also. Though I tried to help out, I'd have to give the credits to my mechanics, Nick of Mech Tech. He's the best I've had so far. Last year, I did my cams install on the 3.0 with 2 other shops, and they f-ed up my snit pretty bad. I don't even know who to blame anymore, JWT? the mechanics? or my old vq30 motor? But after all, I've got a 3.5 now, and I'll go all out with it...

Yeah...good mechanics are like good U.S. presidents...they simply don't exist anymore. OK, OK...so that's a gross exaggeration (current prez notwithstanding ), but still. I'm one of the most **** people I've ever known and, as a result, am probably a mechanic's worst nightmare. I try to do whatever I can by myself, otherwise I almost never seem pleased in the end. Good thing the GF's a psychologist .
