Most people dont have access to an entire car like vsamoylov had. Or the downtime like eng had.

LOL Going the eng92 route would be the only option for me if i tried to do it. But starting with a full harness and trimming away > starting with a hacked up harness and having to repair it. To me anyway...

It would be a great idea if only the car would start afterward.

I am not saying it is a great option, I just never thought about it.

honestly, I'd just redrill the sprockets and be done with it.. if you screw up.. it's a lot easier to replace a sprocket, than it is a cam.

I dunno... the only somewhat challenging aspect that I can think of with a 4th gen or early 5th gen, would be putting the drive by wire pedal in.. As for a harness.. you can nab one off of a SE-R, Maxima, Altima.. whatever.. it's 6 wires... and they all lead to the sub harness on the ECU. It might take you an hour to stretch out 6 wires, and loom them up.. then solder/crimp them to the accel pedal harness plug, and label them... run it behind your dash.. and up to the sub harness plugs.. From there, just peep into the FSM, to get your 2 5 volt feeds, grounds, and return signals.. (there's 2 potentiometers in the pedal).. The other thing would be to wire in the 4 wires for the TB relay.. Nothing major.. After that, you would wire up the fuel pump trigger, tach trigger, speedo, coolant temp, and whatever misc. emissions crap you want hooked up.

As for the pedal... go to lowes.. get some 1/8" steel flat bar, or aluminum, if you have the capability to weld it.. take your old pedal off.. and make a bolt template.. get your spacing how you need it, and build an adaptor. I've made several, going the other way around.. (cable style in a electronic pedal car), so I know that it works..

It seems complicated.. but, it's really not too bad.. I understand the down time issue though.. Maybe, I'll be able to tinker with this more, in the future, and get some diagrams and such for you guys to look at.

How's your car running with the new ECU, spig?

actually if you plan on doing a full 3.5 sawp the e-gas pedal is a direct bolt in.

i think this incredibly off topic thread needs to be moved to either dealer/vendor experiences of buyer/seller feedback... because that's what this thread's original intent was...

Because i bought a 3.5 motor w/3.0 changeover like 5 months ago and i call, im, leave messages and everything he never answers my calls or returns them. that has put a lot of modding 2 the side that cant be done until I HAVE MY MOTOR!! im so fed up with it, if any of u could possibly get ahold of him 4 me in the next few days i would greatly appreciate it cuz im just about to make a trip to penn. and if thats what it comes down to i will not be a happy camper!

I would suggest buying the spacers/adapters from someone else, and contiue to try and get the matter resolved with Tilley. I know you dont want to shell out more money for a part you should have but atleast this way you can finish your swap.

Its frustrating to have your work halted by one part

Wow Tilley's highly regarded name is slipping. To be honest I was all for Tilley, his information, and contributions to the Maxima community, but to have two situation in which both result in no refund is not very cool. After all his hard work I still find it very hard to believe he has scammed people after working so hard in the maxima community. Obviously (and common sense) says there is a reason, whether it is legit or not, and I am curious to know it. I was considering purchasing a 3.5 through him since it would pretty much guarentee the engine would be healthy, but now ..............

Am I the only person seeing that his guy said that he paid for a motor? He probably lost out about $1200. Please correct me if I am reading wrong.

I completely missed that and thought he was refereing to the spacers. A motor is a whole different league. 5 months is way too much, I would suggest looking into alternate methods of getting in contact with him or his family members and see if anyone can locate him.

Maybe some PA members can swing by to see if his shop is even still at the address.
