anyone have an smt-7?

I dont even know if this came out yet, i would get a smt-6 over a vafc II for timing. But does anyone have a smt-7? I want to know what kinds of things you have done to your car and if you are pleased with it, thank you in advance

SMT-7 won't work with a VQ30. It needs to have it's crank and cam signals programed in order for the SMT-7 to recognize them. Kevlo and myself tried numerous times to get Perfect Power to create the software patch for the VQ30 signals and they never did.

It was a race of sorts and Greddy stepped up with the eManage ultimate.

The SMT-6 works well enough for me and when the time comes im putting in a Greddy Emanage for more features and control.

Alot more, SMT6 only works after 3500 RPM for timing advance and A/F. ECU ignores any changes in closed loop below 3500 RPM. Emanage should control timing and fuel everywhere along the RPM range. Along with increased rev limit capabilities, which IMO is the best feature of all.

I've already tuned the SMT6 to its maximum on my car, its good for about 10~15 WHP if your running a stock ECU. The Emanage can make the same power but it wins overall due to the fact that it can increase the rev limit.

Also the EU adjusts the timing post-ECU so you can advance or retard the timing as much as you want to without getting the cam sensor code.

can you adjust timing very easily? like literally pushing a button? I understnad vafc II has a faceplate with buttons and junk. I only ask because I would buy this and do install and I wouldnt have enough money to tune for a while. But I would want to just bump up the timing because I know that is proven power. how does it adjust timing?

If you've done your research in advance, how long should the install of an E-Manage Ultimate take in a 4th gen Max w/ a 3.5 (NOT a full swap)? Also, is it really that beneficial for this type of application, or am I better off simply purchasing an air/fuel computer? I've been deliberating about this for a couple of weeks now. Thx.

I have my setup so that I can flick a switch and go from a mild street tune to an aggressive race fuel map. You can configure the SMTs for dual mapping and set it up your way. But you use a computer to access the software and do the initial changes.

It just changes the crank signal and tricks the ECU into advancing timing on its own.

No. Ignition timing is advanced when you remove fuel via MAF conditioning. You bump the fuel pressure up or run larger injectors to keep from running lean, nothing more.
