VQ35 Swap using 6th gen alternator

I wanted to know if you do a VQ35 swap, can the 6th alternator work with the swap? The reason I ask is because my friend just did his swap but the alternator went bad. Someone bought up a suggestion to get a 6th gen alternator because they put out more amperage. I don't know how much it puts out but I know the most for the 4th gen alternator is 125. Please let me know as he would like to order it tomorrow. I will post up in the 6th gen forum to find out the amperage.

Thanks,
Mike

According to the 98 and 04 FSMs the nominal alternator output ratings are the same. 110A @ 12V

That sucks. Same thing happened to my friend. Alternator was good for 2 years and as soon as he does the swap it died on him.

Thanks for the input. I will just tell him to get the 4th gen one. But there is a 125 amp model. Need to find that one.

The only models I have found with a 125A nominal rating are 95 Maximas and 96 fed spec Maximas. (Hitachi model LR1125-702)
From 97 on they all appear to be 110A. I checked the 350Zs as well

Do you know if they only made the 125 A model or if they made all models for that year? I found a Nissan place that has the Hitachi but they can't tell me the amperage.

Thanks,
Mike

Nissan FAST does not have the amp ratings or model#. I am going by what is in the FSM.

If they have one there, they should be able to tell you what the Hitachi model# is. The amp rating is right in the model #.

For example, the 110A one for Cali-spec 96 vehicles is LR-1110-705

OK. Thanks for the help. That makes sense. After making some phone calls I found a place that has it in the local area. They stated that some people have had issues getting the 125 A model to fit because its a little wider. To that end, my friend sucked it up and ordered two. He told us that if we tried to install one that he wouldn't take it back. So the best bet was to order two so we could physically look to see if they were the same or not. Whichever one we don't use, we can get a full refund for. Sounded good to me. I will let you guys know what happened.

Mike

All I30's come with the 125A one. You can just order one for an I30 or most places will ask you the amperage you want.

OK. Well hopefully this will fit fine then. Everywhere I called except the place I ordered from couldn't tell me the amperage or didn't know what the hell I was talking about. Decent price is what led me to this place as well: $128 + $75 core charge.
