Emanage ultimate setup questions

so I have the EU wired in, but I just want to make sure I have some of the settings correct since it seems to not be having an effect on my cars timing and such when I adjust it...

I have a 2000 maxima in case that changes anything since I heard somewhere that we need one jumper set differently than the 4th gens somewhere on the board here...

how should the internal jumpers be set? (I would like to double check mine with that of others to make sure I have them perfect)

how should the software screen/initial setup be? (vq30det selected, rpm signal or crank signal for rpm input?, etc.)

Stock jumpers..

VQ30det, crank angle

Make sure you only tap the crank wires, not the cam...

hmm...can you send me your em2 file with blank maps?...michaelnyden@yahoo.com

by stock jumpers do you mean as greddy set them from the factory?

I am not using any other options such as wideband or pressure sensor or other external switches...

Go ahead and open the EU up and compare the jumpers to the one's I put down on my write-up. I really dont' think you should set any jumpers differently.

The only difference I can think of is your MAF sensor type. I was told by chris'smax that ya'll MAF sensors are different than ours. But someone needs to confirm this because I'm still new to the EU software.

Don't need to do anything with the MAF sensor. Leave it at the default that comes up when you pick VQ30DET.

As for the jumpers, they should be the same as the 4th gen except you may have to switch JP13 to OPEN if you find your fans aren't turning on and the car is running too hot.

JP13 & JP14 - change to 1-2 if using for air and/or water temp, otherwise default (OPEN) for KS

I'm still working on my write-up; it will have info for both A32 and A33. Got a lot done this weekend on it but still more to go as it's turning into a pretty big document.

so just for safety reasons, should I set JP13 to open anyway? that's strange as 13 being open means KS...why would that equal the fans running or not? I would think it would be the other way around almost...lol

The jumper setting has to do with how the electronics are wired. Don't think of it in terms of the sensor. The reason 1-2 is used for most temp sensors is that they are pull-up types (this denotes a certain type of electrical circuit), whereas the KS is not.

Don't worry too much about the "why" of it though, just pick a setting (probably OPEN for being 5th gen), and as soon as you have the EU ready to go, turn on the car and watch the temperature gauge and datalogger as it warms up. If it starts to get hotter than the usual position, and the fans aren't turning on, then switch JP13 and repeat the process. You may also notice on the datalogger if the temp isn't reading right...
