just wondering any 99 cali spec max swaped a DEK engine? Trying to search in the site but keep coming up a fatal error. as some of you know, i have the 00vi on the car. Having couple cel's..bank 1 and 2 too lean and random misfire. motor has about 103k miles on it and planning to swap a 01 motor with 19k miles.

will there be any cel's or problems using my 99 cali spec ecu? Thanks

 

A 99 would be the easiest since the EGR and other emissions are very similar. Get a DEK with swirl valves and EGR (electronic) if thats what you already have, which all 99's I have seen do. The install would be pretty simple.

 

ah ok thanks. my 99 is made in 9/98. i think my egr is a vacuum unit. i'm also getting the cattman headers as well. not sure if the 01 motor is cali spec or fed spec..so the headers..it doesnt really matter which one i get correct?
