Proper way to tie 00VI open ?
Finally finsihed the 00VI install. Present setup feels just as fast as USIM. I have heard the term Tieing the VI open, like on the MEVI. Would like to know how this is done. Is this physically tieing it open or doing something with the VIAS hoses?
Drag Racing in 10 days and would like to experiment with this setup tying it open and leaving it closed.
With the way things worked out, wont have time to have the Greddy EU installed and tuned b4 race day. Was going to race my Pulsar VZR again (best time of 15.3 stock) but figured I would win a race or two with the maxima in present state.
So how do you open the 00VI and keep it open for top end power ?
thanks

From below tie off the shaft that opens the VI, OPEN it up and tie it off to something with a Zip Tie. Its an easy way to know your VI will stay open all the time.
Once you get the EU, you can open up the Manifold with the Emange

Do you have any stand-alone engine management??e-manage???
Otherwise, apex'i v-afc2 is equipped with a RPM switch and 24 pts fuel corrections. Best bang for the buck if you want to go piggyback. The module is equipped with a rpm switch to activate the VI opening at a desired rpm selected by the user. Equipped on a VQ30, opening it a 5000rpm is supposed to have the best results so far...
Off-topic, you are the inspiration for my a32 project.
Keep the upgrades coming and post your results!!!
Thumbs up, buddy!!!

He has EMU waiting to install, so there is no point of installing something else in the mean time. Ceasar, you can just connect it to vacuum to keep it open when the engine is running, or you can try to physically tie it open. Of course, neither always open nor always closed will be better than a working VIAS.

will post up some photos of my swap, its not 100 percent but engine is running, gave it a good test drive home today, everything seems to be in good running order. took out all the egr stuff and blocked it off and who knows what else, even cruise control is in a box somewhere. will try to clean and tidy it up soon

ceasar do you not have the VI opening at all since the EU isnt hooked up yet? i mean do you have something else hooked up until you install the EMU? anyways.. i dont think that having it completely open all the time would do you justice.. if you dont have anything hooked up to the VIAS (to open it) then i think your only bet is the "zip-tie mod" haha.. anyways goodluck at the track.. congrats on your swap.. let us know what happens at the track..

are you thinking i should just leave it closed ? at this point i dont know the difference. i was just curious as to if i tied it open, could i trap 100 mph. stupid i know , just never trapped 3 digits yet, lol !
maybe it makes more sense to keep it closed since i dont have extended rev limiter.

It helps when its open and close. Its all about the rpm point that it opens up. Maybe a switch will do you just in the interim. What happens is that up to say 4800 rpm the air is flowing through the long runners on the IM. After 4800 rpm the valve opens and allows the use of your short runners dumping more air into the combustion chamber and reducing the time it would take for the air to get in.

the way i look at it is if u leave it closed...u will keep all ur low end...if u leave it open u will sacrifice a lil low end ang get some high end.....u could wire it up to a simp toggle switch and open and close it until u get the EU in

Maxima96se makes a great point.. just use a simple toggle switch to activate it for the moment. its cheap.. and even if you dont hit it 'eaxactly' where it needs to be activated.. it will still be better than having it always open/closed.. but hell just for kicks tie it open to see if you can pull off triple digits.. im sure its not impossible..

From my experience I would keep it open, I notice a huge difference when i close mine, it feels like the USIM like you said, the point f it is to have a lot better top end, so open it up, overall you will still run better at the track IMO. Post your experement with us though, maybe its all in our heads...
