Looks like the zip tie to keep the valve shut in the mean while isn't working out. Whoops.

And it looks like you zip tied the Throttle cable to the firewall. That's a big no-no. Should be mounted on the IM.

Its not zip tied to the firewall. There were some zip ties involved but it's mounted on the TB. Nothing will flex either..

hey congrats. I too like how you have the FPR location and hoses setup. I may just haved to copy that for ease of working with it. I currently have mine by the coil thing of the clutch hard line and its a mission to adjust it when I have too, and its not too clean looking either.

BTW nice work on polishing the timing cover and IM! Looks great! I too polished my timing cover, but never really keep it clean, so 6 months later it looks like normal, lol.

Any driv ing impressions so far?

There's no vac source going to the FPR right?

driving impression: feels nice down low pulls pretty good way better than when i was s/c(yea i know s/c builds power and is felt up top). Haven't taken past 3k yet still breaking in a clutch. I wanted to keep the fpr visible and easy to get to, plus we kinda didn't order enough ss line to put it anywhere else. I actually still have to polish the elbow from the intake manifold. I started to polish but then my hands got tired and i wanted the engine in so i might just finish that at a later day.

The throttle cable isn't attatched to the firewall like 95nasta said. No vac source for the fpr

Man you can floor it and hit redline no problem (as far as the clutch is concerned) lol. Just let it rev back down to under 3k rpm before you press the clutch to shift. Ur just doing it to see how it pulls.

Im telling you, you have not experienced the fruits of your labor until you go above 4k. At least with my setup, its after 4k that the car goes insane

When I first did the swap- open headers, I went ahead and pulled out of my block into the main road, floored it 3 blocks down, and turned back into my neighborhood. Surprisingly, open headers on the 3.5 seemed much quieter than when I did it (for the heck of it) on the 3.0. But wow, it was GREAT! 1am and Im here drivin around my neighborhood with open headers sounding like a race car

As said already, the intake was made out of stuff lying around. Its going to be replaced with something much better

and 3.5 engine cover is an ugly piece of square plastic so I say it should stay off.

I would agree that a spark plug cover would be nice..
But IMO the cover looks like exactly what it is, a big piece of decorated plastic... hiding the engine.
With the coils covered, there would almost nothing left of the mess of wires and vac lines.

Install looks good. I as well wish I could pull this off. I believe I could figure out most of the setup but I have not seen enough info on evap and such to make the car have no codes. Plus this is my DD so I don't have a lot of time to keep the car out of commission. Maybe one day if I find a good deal on a 3.5 I'll do it. Anyways, Congrats.

Swap was not hard there is enough info out there about having no cel. I really don't mind having cel. My car is also my dd I took a week to do my swap but I only worked on it for 3 or 4 days we had a snow storm and that slowed me down.

well i have to have no cel on my car here in CT to pass emissions. Just being able to take the engine out would be the p.i.t.a. I think I could handle all the timing chains and all. Idk, either way I dont have the money now anyways haha.
