VQ35 in a 2k1.

I want to do this swap sometime at the end of this year. I was wondering if tavarish's write up is the write up for the 5th gen as well. If there something different that i have to do for the the 2k1? I don't have an EGR.. i don't think that's an issue correct? How about the wiring? Thanks

-Brian

Sorry for the noobish thread.

The write-up applies to the T. No re-wiring required since you already have the proper injector connectors.

what do you mean about the T. When you said the write up applies to the T.

and saying that i don't have to rewire.. it's basically a direct drop it. =). Sounds so simple!

It's an expression that means it mimics it exactly.

I don't know about that, but it will be a bit easier than putting it in a 4th gen.

We need more 3.5 swaps around. All the streetfire.net k20a2 swapped Civics are starting to scare me. No standard bolt-on 4th/5.0 gen will take those out. I think any 3.5 done right will send them back to saying VTEC wasn't acting right

Too bad it costs them over 3 times what it costs us for less power. I just read an FAQ/write-up and you HAVE to be prepped to spend 5 grand. HELL ... with 5 grand we can have a 3.5 with good bolt-ons, EU/tuned, and tires

Its not for sure yet. I'm either planning to do this or sell my car and get a 99-01 q45.

This guy is selling his car and i'm debating on it right now

I am not sure about this swap unless your engine is blown or problematic. To get all the power the 5.5g have, you'd have to swap out the whole ECU to your car for the vtc which is where a lot of the power comes from. This is a PITA iirc.

No you do not HAVE to get the ECU, but personally I would recommend it. Much more power under the curve. Some complain that there is way more torque in the 3.5 hybrid setup (the approach you are going for) compared to the 3.0 that they have traction issues and don't want the additional power.

That statement typically comes from drag heads w/ A32B's which are a little lighter than the A33.

Also, doesn't seem like he fits the drag head description either. I also would recommend a full swap.

Pin outs for the A33/A33B are more similar than A32 vs A33B. So, just an observation, but it might not be as difficult.

In all honesty though, it has been covered in detail and the OP should go ahead and do some leg work. And then when the REAL questions arise, i.e switching electronics from A33-->A33B to accommodate said CVTC as well as other issues not yet brought to the table yet, then come ask, or pioneer it.

Don't make me throw another search party and consolidate some of this CVTC info for you

There will be a semi-writeup for that made eventually, methinks.

I have been wanting to do this but i think it would be cheaper to just buy a 2003 6 speed and sell my 01. that way I get the tranny and the engine plus i can swap over all my mods pretty easy. what do y'all think i should do.
