3.5 swap SOOO worth it

after months of not being able to drive my car, FINALLY!!! My neighbors must think I'm crazy, no core-support, bumper, fenders, hood, etc. just a radiator resting on the crossmember and I'm tearing around my neighborhood...... after 4k everything get's SCARY fast, I need to wire in my window switch asap. Man, I know there's a couple swap threads going around and people contemplating and everything.... DO IT!!! Holy crap, the thing just breaks loose and goes everywhere in first gear! Aw man, it really is unbeleivable, going from a beat 3.0 w/170k to this thing with 40k is great, this thing is like driving a blown 5.0, seriously. Can't wait to dyno especially since I'm running a bit more aggresive intake cam timing than most. Really can't wait to have every kink worked out of it and be able to drive it and dyno it and track it and show people what's up with the nissan/infiniti v6. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way, this would not have been at all possible without the info and help of the .org and a few peeps on here in particular.

Welcome to the club! My first test drive was without a hood, bumper or fenders on too. First time you get torque steer at the top of second around 50-60 mph = PRICELESS.

That's what I went with. I can't wait to get the idle down a bit, as I have a feeling it's going to be slightly lumpy, which would put a smile on my face. I need to straighten out my idle, extremely temporary throttle cable bracket, double check my tps adjustment, and fiddle with the fuel-pressure, I set it super quick, but when I get a chance I want to get it near stock 42psi and 34psi idle WITH manifold vacuum connected and see how that goes...........

My name's kevin, but it's cool, I totally forget what yours is anyways. Let me know about that tranny rebuild also, I'm actually pulling maximaSE327's out tommorrow morning for a rebuild.

Yeah I would like to upload a video at some point soon, I was already thinking that, I'm gonna see if Lilaclucymaxima wants to come up this week sometime and pick up his axles, he has a video camera

I have no idea why J-claw took all that stuff off, I'm sure it was for good reason though. I had recently borderline totalled my car, and I needed to replace uppr & lwr core supports anyways, so I figured why not just take everything off before the swap and pull the motor right out of the front instead of dropping it from below. It's definitly super easy and very convenient to work on your car when you can walk right into the front manifold.

Ummm, one other thing I did different also was used the 3.5 coolant log, tapped a hole and did quite the cool solid little set-up that definitly won't ever leak, reasoning was one coolant log I had was so corroded it litterely crumbled/broke when I pulled a hose off!!! and the other one just looked crappy and nearly as corroded. But I really want to take my tb off since I never got pics of the completely finished tps set-up, it is soooo super solid, every other one I've seen seems to be very ghetto, they APPEAR, I'm not saying they all are, but they appear to be, I have pics of it just about done though, I'll post 'em up if anyone is interested.

Thanks everybody!!!!

Rusted fenders got their exit while doing the swap. Replaced with flat black new ones, which I ran around with (and unpainted 97 bumper) for much of that summer.

Congratulations!!!! Now smoke up your tires at 45mph next to a Stang like I've done before, BAHAHA. Scares the living out of them! They tell me "OH H3LL NAH!! HOW MUCH YA SPRAYIN???" lol

Enjoy it very much! have fun with it. Get to dyno soon to make sure all is running how it should be, and tune it. Once you have that done, TRACK!

oh god, I've been dreading that question coming up........

$130 E-bay special!! gripforce F1 baby! It didn't slip during the very short test-run that I did, it definitly grips like a *****. There is another .org member around here who is running the XTD, which is pretty much the same thing (except $10 more) a 6-puck cerametallic w/sprung hub and stiffer pp. He made a comment about his being a HORRIBLE chatterbox, I'm pretty sure if he was to pull his tranny he would see the same thing I did, a horribly fried flywheel and pp surface. I can live with the chatter for the time being,Think it can't get worse? the disc was even sitting outside next to the trashbarrel for almost a week until I realized I didn't have the funds for what I wanted to run! however within the next few weeks I will be selling my 4-wheeler (anyone wanna buy a 250R?) and buying a new insert for my fidanza and I'm probably going to go with a clutchmaster stage 3. I really should have taken pics but my dig. cammera batteries were dead! Whatever, it clearly chatters so bad upon engagement that after 15-20k of HARD abuse it caused my flywheel to be toast, it chattered very soon after break-in and got progressively worse, but it holds a 3.5 swap for sure! and my fw and pp surfaces are clearly glazed over. but to be completely honest, I'm glad I temporarily installed this one, I was able to hammer the swap right away and that one loop around the block was so worth it, not to mention at the time I originally bought it even if I had gone with a 5th gen exedy I wouldn't have been able to afford the Fidanza, which was by far the best mod I've ever done to my car asides from the swap.

Any word on the 3.5 cover?

I'm pretty scared about driving my car for the 2nd time, I thought it was sooooo fast before, while I was taking care of my temporary throttle cable bracket I happened to notice that the round end of the cable doesn't clear the TB in a certain spot, I thought I was at WOT but it was only opening about 2/3rds!!!!!!!

To control the VIAS properly (which a regular RPM switch can't do BTW).

The 2k2 VIAS system is OFF-ON-OFF. Not OFF-ON like a 00VI or other VI's.
