Nissan WONT touch it! WTF!

I got a p1447 the other day, and I went to Nissan to have them Diagnose the Evap system....

Bottom line, they said they wouldn't touch it because it has and 03 motor in a 97. I told them that regardless of the motor, they could still run a diagnosis on the system for vacum leaks and the valves. I also mentioned that they could power probe the sensor to see if there are any changes in readings...

They frowned and said they wont start throwing parts on it...

I just want them to do a freaking DIAGNOSIS!!!!

Is there any inherent issues with a vq35 and the 3.o evap system? I don't think I've ever heard of one....

The diagnosis on the system should have been done the same way regardless of the motor!!!!

I'm dying over here

yea thats pretty stupid. they just dont want to have to do the extra work that it would take to look at the FSM to see how the vaccum/ air circuit should flow on the evap system, and then look at your car to see if it differs. (then again, you could do that yourself).

I dont have the EVAP junk, I took it out as my 95 has the canister up front in the cabin... got annoying after a while of messing with the fuel lines and i ripped it out, lol. I just have a code for the evap switch, which went away after simply hookin up the switch.... eventho it doesnt have any of the vaccum lines attached to it.

Thats pretty stupid of the dealer to no check it, if anything they coulda made more $ off of diagnosing your car, and since its a diagnosis, as long as they know what they're doing, they really dont have anything to loose.

They were lazy...

WHen you say hooked up the switch, what do you mean? Was yours disconnected? Or is there some bypass I can do to make the code go away...

well the green switch that has like 3 vaccum ports. I had originally eliminated it and the harness was there hanging. I checked codes after the swap and that was one of them. All I did was connect the harness to the switch, and that took out that code, lol. The switch doesnt have any vaccum attached to it at all, its just dangling there in the engine bay really... but I got rid of that code. Not sure of thats the one you have but just an idea. Keep in mind tho, 95 ECUs are a bit easier on the Evap system, very easy to please compared to 96+ecus

I was told the same thing by the dealership and my friends are mechanics there. The service manager said dont bring it to us if you need work done on it. Welcome to owning a modded car. Could they work on it? Yes. Are they willing to spend the time on it when there are plenty of other cars out there that arent modded and easier to work on? No.

Its funny because the evap system is stock... only difference is its recieving vacuum from the vq35 IM instead of VQ30. Ghey! Oh well, I'm going to figure this out myself today.

I would if it would worth converting to the 95 ECU.... I got rid of that code for a while, but the bugger is back again. I wish I had time to work on the car.
