Upper Oil Pan Removal

Im having some trouble removing my upper oil pan. I have all the bolts undone the ac off the ac bracket off, exhaust and cross member and cannot remove my upper oil pan. There is about an in or two between the block and the oil pan and it seems to be stuck on something on the fly wheel side up near the crank. I was wondering is the pan supposed to come straight down or is there a special way to remove the pan. I dont believe anything to be broken. And before i attempt to put any muscle into budge it out I want to make sure i didnt miss anything.

Right now the oil pan is hanging from whatever is holding it on the flywheel side. I dont believe ive thrown a rod on have a bent crank.

Any help is appreciated.

Triple check that you have all the bolts out including the ones inside the pan. Are you doing this with tranny in or out? if in, make sure lower bellhusing bolts are removed. Also near the alternator area there is a seemingly pointless small 2" bracket that bolts to the pan and block. There are little square pry spots on both sides of the block more towards the tranny, but they like to chip off, the pan is stuck good, if doing it with trans out it's much easier because you can use a rubber mallet and bang down pretty hard on the very bottom part of the bellousing below the opening.

Yeah, even with all the bolts off, it can still be stuck on pretty good with the old RTV. you just have to put some elbow grease into it. (ofcourse with all bolts off)

removing it was the transmission drain plug and going back up it was the metal collar that protects the axle seal.

Thanks for the suggestions.
