VQ Dry Sump?

Why have I never seen or heard of this on any of the boards? Anybody know more about it? I'm not really that interested because for me tranny is the ground clearance problem but I thought I'd give a heads up. Unless I'm just retarded and missing something.

hummmm, interesting. Ground clearance isn't the only benefit to a dry-sump system though. Say bye bye to A/C with that pan.

Not to mention thats just the pan, you need a crap load of other stuff, and it'll end up being 5-15K depending on your needs.

As an example my friend is doing a drysump for his 3 rotor rx7 and he said hes going to be spending about 7K. And hes not one to be extravagant but will get the good quality stuff.

google dry sump oil system. Basically instead of storing the extra oil in the bottom of the engine and sucking it up it uses an externally mounted oil storage container with pumps going in and out

For me ground clearance is my main concern. I'm not going to be pushing this car hard enough to need a system like that. I just ordered one of the APS pans for a bit of peace of mind. I didn't even look at the price. Holy crap! I'm not really interested at all. Just thought I'd throw it out there for others.

$7K? D@mn.

Technical explanation of a dry sump FYI.

Yea thats what it does, you should look at what parts it involves. It says some where on that site it uses a timing belt to drive it. So theres acc. drive mods just starting. And fittings and tanks, it builds fast.

I just saw some dry sumped RB's some where, I shoulda kept the links.....

a dry sump pan for a z is pretty much guaranteed to work on a max (3.5) since the pan isnt likely to have cross member clearance issues and the only visible issue would be piping placement, but we all know that piping is flexible. either way, i doubt any of us with max's are likely to be needing this anytime soon.
