apexi neo + jwt ecu?

i tried searching, but i didnt know what to search for..the words to use.

heres my question, i have the jwt ecu, along with alll the bolt ons, i will have a mevi arriving soon, so what im wondering is how much more power could i be able to get if i use the neo ontop of the jwt ecu? My car still seems like it runs right, i know i have to get a wideband to verify that, but i think it is. Also with the neo i plan on controlling the VI switchover, so hopefully ill be able to get a bit more power out of it.

thanks
chris

my mods are in my sig, and the mevi will follow, perhaps with a 3" maf.

Instead of asking, dyno when you get it and then post #'s. JWT has a tendency to ‘tune’ the AFR pretty lean(14.1 – 14.2). Search for 96sleepers’ old 30DE dyno where he gained IIRC 9whp from tuning and I think also an exhaust cut-out. But every car is different so your gains won’t be right on.

I'm running this set up on my car now with the DEK.I thought the car ran good before I took it to the dyno. After I dynoed it showed me running very rich.10.9 to 11.5 afr. Bought a wide band o2 and a neo. After tuning the afc it felt as if I was driving a different car.Wideband o2 is a must with any upgrade in my opinion. How else are you going to know if your car is running at peak performance or not.

And this is w/ the JWT ECU? What injectors are you using? Any CEL's? What PSI is your fuel at?

I know you can dyno but it's a lot cheaper for me to moniter the changes to the engine right after I install something different to my car instead of paying $125 to take it to the dyno each time to retune it.I'm constantly changing something on my car,Intake, messing with different size mafs,etc.. I bought a complete 2001 motor and just swaped the intake manifold and everything up onto my 97 motor. At the time I had a TS ecu.I write down the charts on the changes I make to my afc everytime I do something different just so I have a record of what I have done and how it changes the af mixture. At 4500 rpm I had to set the correction at -19 just to get 13.2 afr. This is with all 2001 stock injectors and fuel pressure regulator.I changed the ecu from a TS to a JWT and had to make even more corrections to the fuel map.Since then I had to go ahead and install the 2001 motor because of some crappy driving on my part at the drag strip(shifted from 3rd back to 2nd and spun motor up to almost 10,000 BYE,BYE compression, hello bent valves)and I still have to make what seems like to me big changes in the fuel map with the original stock 2001 motor setup.Maybe I need to invest in a good fpr to compensate for this.Oh and I was running stockA32 maf. Sorry 96blkonblkse didn't mean to ramble on in your thread but I had the same setup you have when I installed my dek and that's what I had to do to make my max run like she is suppose to.

It's even better to monitor these items, WHILE on a dyno. AFL/IGN/AFR/ECT/MPH/ECT/IAT/TPS

Touche! I agree 100%. I'm talking about tweaking the set up so you can drive around without messing up something major.

wow alright, well i dont have the neo yet, which is why im asking, if theres minimal gains to be had then id just get an rpm switch, but if there is gains, to be had over the jwt ecu then ill get the neo, because i can get it for a good price.

Get it, use it, if you don't like it, sell it.

If you get a wb, you'll have a lot of fun with it and an AFC, so add that to the equation and odds are you wont sell it.

Alright, thnks NMexMAX. I think i am going to do the wideband o2 plus the neo, that or the vafc2. I enjoy playing around with things like that. Hopefully ill be heading to the dyno on tuesday so ill know for sure if i am indeed running rich and how my car is running in terms of power.
