Please post photos of the cams' dowel pins - this has me worried. If my )*/%$# ARP rod bolts ever get here, ( and 3-layer REAL 350Z head gaskets) I've got a motor to assemble. Heaven knows I have extra cams to knock pins out of - 3.0 and 3.5 cams - but what did you see??????
And what are your nitrous plans for the 3.5? Personally, I don't think I'm up to spraying mine once it's running - until I dyno and wideband-A/F it, anyway.

fun stuff - but why did it take so long ??

because i am teh lose. i didnt think it was that slow. its full interior with a full size jack in the back with a full tool set, p/s, a/c, etc. maybe because its not tuned, WHO KNOWS. i might try to self tune it with my lm1 and safc. i wanna dyno it to see whats up also.

since this thread rocks, im going to keep adding to it.
went to the track again. only got 2 runs, sooooooo many cars there.
street tires, no tune.
run 1:
60 ft: 2.346
1/8th: 9.644
1/8th mph: 74.76
1/4: 14.846
1/4 mph: 94.30
run 2:
60 ft: 2.140
1/8th: 9.407
1/8th mph: 75.05
1/4: 14.600
1/4 mph: 94.31
i spin badly with these now balding kuhmo ecstas. i really cant wait to put up my fd rx7 wheels/tires this weekend. should see some better times. because even though my 60ft isnt bad, im not 100% throttle because it will just light then up. i didnt spin too bad in 1st, i hit 2nd and it will light them most of 2nd, thats where i lose a lot of my time. then 3rd i chirp it, no big deal.
on the way to the track i come across a brand spanking new 07 350z. we get next to each other and i let him hit it first, we go from 60-130 i think and i had a car length on him, so i was impressed. engine is where its suppose to be.

im going next wednesday again. im having it dynoed before i go i hope. i put rx7 wheels on today all around with good condition proxes....so that should help the launching.
but yea i did wonder why the trap was sorta low. what do people typically trap at? like 98 right?

Wait you trapped 94 and you pulled an 07 Z? - what? Some of those are trapping like 104-105 (the 6spds anyways, don't really know what the autos run).
Maybe we're just not seeing the full potential of your car demonstrated at the track yet, but based on your previous runs at the track when you had the 3.0 I'd not think that was the case - they were pretty good, though that car trapped really low too so maybe the track you are going to just reads traps low or something...
To answer your question - I'd fully expect virtually any 3.5 swapped 4th gen, besides those driven by total noobs, those in really heavy cars, or those taken to the track on days with absolutely horrible weather conditions, to trap over 100mph.

yea i pulled on a z. i have no reason to lie on the internet, you guys been nothing but helpful. i didnt KILL him, but i did pull on him.
you think a horrible a/f ratio could knock off about 5mph off a trap speed? i REALLY do not believe it is timing still. my friend who is a nissan tech helped me with the timing, and i trust him. ill try to have my friend at nissan advance my timing with the consult before i hit up the track wednesday also. people have it advanced 2 degrees, correct?

I wasn't thinking you were lying, I was thinking much more along the lines of he fact that he probably underestimated your car and thus didn't bother to downshift all the way to the proper gear - or that he didn't go all out because he was still breaking in the car and didn't run it all the way out to redline or something like that.
I don't believe that AFR can knock that much off a trap speed by a long shot, super wacked out timing could, but you said you think your timing is good, so who knows  You're missing power somewhere though, 94mph traps are more like stock 4th gen territory, not 4.5gen territory.
DRFs are the dyno runfiles.

they were 2 months old when i bought the car...all 4.

that's really weird - maybe your track just shows really low traps or something though i find it really hard to believe that a track could be that out of wack, what track is it? only other thing i can think of is that those guys both really suck at driving lol. has your buddy ever run his 350z at that same track?
i'm basing this off the fact that i went 13.4 @ 102 in my previous all motor 4th gen, and my buddy's completely stock 03 350z would still pull me.

Well shes coming along. your times should definately improve with the FD wheels and proxes. Lighter wheel, stickier tire is a pretty good setup!! where as most people here seem to want to go with some big flashy chrome boat anchor wheel and then complain about lack of power heh.
I agree with the majority though, your trap does seem low, even with the 3.0, you were running low 14's and trapping 98mph? Id try a different track, and see if there are any changes. A 14.6 isnt bad, but i think you should be in the 98-99mph range, esp with a 3.5.
Good luck though man, i think we have twin cars, except you have a 3.5..you A$$hole

yea last night was test and tune at my 'local' track (1.5 hours away). but i wanted to bring my audi wagon up to see what it runs. i was cruising around before we were going to head up and it started to overheat, so i was like wtf. and i didnt wanna bring the maxima because it needs front struts BAD. so i just went up with my friends. got to race in a semi-built chevy 350 iroc z. heh. thing had ***** but couldnt find any gears.

haha thats pretty sick. Man i use to race my schools 1980 malibu with a bult 355 making approx 500chp, which is severly restricted due to the high school class racing..cars cant run faster then 12 in the 1/4. I drove this car down the track maybe 25-30 times, its got M/T 26" slicks, 10.5" wide, built 3000rpm stall tranny, roll cage, driveshaft loop, line lock you name it, it was gutted, it was a full on drag car. The car was capable of high 10's, but due to the timing being severely retarded, throttle stop WOT maybe only got you 85%, and the extra weight in the car it ran consistant 12's at 109-112mph
I was cutting 1.6 60 foots, and god damn that thing came out of the hole like a bat outta hell. Seriously if you didnt have your head against the headrest youd probably get whip lash lol..
I Actually ran a 11.68 in it, and my school got a fine. We figure the combination of the last driver weighing 100lbs more then me, and the temps were really good were the main reason. We put an extra 120lbs in the trunk, and it was doing consistant 12.05@109-112 temperature dependant.
Anyways, get the maxi to another track, i want to see what its capable of!!!
